  1. Betts trade. Verdugo four okay seasons as Sox, pretty much not all that. Downs 6 for 39 as a Sox in 2022, then gone Connor Wong after a good 2024, 0 RBI in 71 plate appearances this year, .145. There is your future book.
  2. Devers first 32 MLB At-Bats, 13 for 32, 3 HR, 2 doubles, 6 RBI Anthony first 17 MLB At-Bats, 1 for 17, 3 RBI. Casas first 17 MLB At-Bats, 1 for 17, 0 RBI Fred Lynn first 16 MLB At-Bats, 9 for 16, 2 doubles, a triple, 2 HR, 6 RBI
  3. This is the Red Sox brass quote to media: "We have a responsibility to our fans to put out the best product possible in order to win, but in order to do this, we have to make sure that our owner is happy. So when when one of our employees is not a "team player," and when we are alerted also of a possibility to find a Premier League available to help our owner's other club, we must act on it. In the end, we know we are making our fanbase happy and that's also why we keep raising prices. While we have your attention, we have added a new Purple People Eaters jersey for Thursday home games. They are already available on our Sox website. We have new Roman Anthony jerseys too!! Go Sox!"
  4. Can't wait for Sox to finally have back Yoshida...it was a long wait, but thank god the DH postion was free up now for our best contact hitter.
  5. but Crochet does love telling all to hit his first pitch of the game fastball...that's nice to have for the scouting report.
  6. Story, Sandoval, Crawford, some of the Tommy John surgery pitchers...Sox always choose what's out there over what's here. It's tradition....don't forget the love affair over guys like Rusney Castillo and Yoshida--gotta have them at all costs!!
  7. To me the 2025 season started badly with the Jim Rice debacle in ST...that was the beginning of the end for this year...the Sox front office should be ashamed of even how they handled that one. But this is about defending your Ivy League hires. Ask the Bruins--they have Mr. Hahvahd Man who can do no wrong. Paul Revered for his Fire Sale and holding firm that Marchand wasn't worth 21 mil for 3 years...bravo!!!. You won, and so did Breslow. We don't go to games to watch Breslow, or Sweeney (yes they both played but not in their current positions).
  8. Sox invested money in Story and I predict he gets injured by August. He is a disastrous signing for so many reasons. Contact hitting is not his thing either..all or nothing...
  9. Eavoldi wanted to stay a Sox....just saying. So kind of supports the theory about the Sox don't value any loyalty...ask Betts.
  10. Manny wanted to be traded--did a lot to want to be traded--but this happened PRIOR TO 2004...only after the Sox publicly made comments suggesting Manny be traded, AROD be brought back in trade. Then he pouted and was a clubhouse problem and oh yeah--let's see-- the Sox won the 2004 WS. then 2007...so yeah, I guess just trade any player who "wants to be traded."
  11. Sox had Schilling (money invested to win), Foulke, Manny, Pedro, Lowe, Varitek, Damon...the team was loaded, not the '25 Sox who are relying on 75-year-old Story, and a bunch of kids on offense...who seem to be in love with having Refsnyder be the model Sox---the platoon hitter...one narrative by Globe writer--it frees up the DH!!! LOL...they had the DH--a full time one who produces at All-Star level, age 28. Now we get to see today's Carl Crawford and Pablo Sandoval return in Yoshida (what an awful signing, also reminded of Rusney way back--ugh) and having Story be the Sox SS for year(not plural) to come.
  12. No, he's the guy who the franchise invested money in and told him he's our 3rd baseman. That was what he bargained for, and yes while his defense was questionable, the way everything has been handled from Breslow's terrible communication skills (Devers should speak in English or learn language--separate issue) to the about face the Sox made the moment Travis got injured--he may not be the "good guy" but he isn't the bad guy you and others will portray and use as a narrative.
  13. You can bet the Giants fans are buying Devers Giants jerseys asap. Great acquisition
  14. LMFAO...hey he didn't put a gun to anyone's head...you can always say no, you are a Sox.
  15. Well don't forget the famous Nomar/Manny was this close to being traded and ARod was coming to town. Agreed multiple things going on, but I'm pretty sure Theo indicated that it was Nomar's defense that concerned him the most when he pulled off the trade. That was the overriding reason to get Cabrera...and it worked.
  16. That is the time honored tradition of all chatrooms...Sox and B's...for some reason you get rid of marquee players or game-changers or stars--and somehow that is a good thing and justified based on "actions" of players or even quotes, or even "body language." Whatever, this trade blows..completely mis-timed---Sox lead major sports in bad timing.
  17. I was also at game 2 of the 2004 AL Division series v. Angels. I went to Fenway earlier in the year on a return visit to Boston saw Nomar return from his injury, so Pokie Reese hit an actual home run. I was also at games 3 and 4 at the 1986 ALCS and skipped the Hendu game that my Dad offered to take me too...I miss when the Sox had guys you love to watch and guys who were top players in MLB--apparently the new mantra is act like a small market team or worse act like a poorly run big market. I got to see Yaz, Tiant (my favorite players), Conigliaro, Lynn and Rice Rookie season, Boggs, Dewey, Rocket, Hurst, Pedro, Manny (best right-handed hitter I've ever seen in person), etc, got excited about the "future" in Betts, Beni, Bradley Jr, Bogie...we had Eavoldi--nah, don't want guys like that..Betts nah. Devers nah.
  18. So funny irony. I was at that game 5...in the outfield bleachers by RF foul pole. And I used to be a regular in the Globe Sox room, then here...and then I hadn't been in here in years...and then sure enough the Devers trade.
  19. Devers went full circle...homers off then Yankmes Chapman makes him a media darling...Chapman comes to Sox...Devers HR v. Yankmes...traded. His Sox career revolved around his performance v. Yankmes often.
  20. The entire Nomar issue was range...that was it...he didn't have the range anymore, the Sox felt they needed a defensive-strong SS and then they got him in Cabrera. I was upset when it happened, but that was Theo--and that guy seemed to often push the right buttons. He was ahead of the curve pre-season of 2004 and during.
  21. He won't be the last opt out either..free agents will opt out of considering the Sox as a potental location...nah, they will sign for millions and millions no matter where that location is--but I wouldn't come to Sox if I wanted to win 2025 or 2026.
  22. Yaz didn't run out balls sometimes at Devers age...he would have been traded in 1970 to 1972 had the current regime been in charge.
  23. Here is my realistic take of the 2025 Red Sox...bad franchise, only caring about a future that seems to be like kicking the can down the road. You want to pay a guy Devers money and then tell him we don't care for your fielding, then tell him nah, now we need you to field, then paint him as some clubhouse issue or whatever they want to do--the answer isn't giving up on him and trading him for basically nothing. It's the Sox way of things, when everything is going well, find a way to screw it up, take the feel good away. I went from finally getting excited a bit about the '25 Sox with Anthony/Mayer/Bello/Crochet and a return of Bregman to what's the point? Hard to remain a fan when the franchise is run by guys who tell Jim Rice you are not giving our talent the right hitting philosophy. Devers is the team's best hitter and one of the few reasons to come to a Sox game or watch it on TV--always a swing away from hitting a bomb.
