  1. The power is ridiculous since Cora threw out the old playbook and said let's swing away at first pitches. Let's try to barrel up as often as possible and in any situation.
  2. Can't find a better baserunning Sox team in my opinion. They really know how to steal, hit and run occasionally, and they gallop on any extra base hit. Sox runners are just fast.
  3. The pitching on this team has been nothing short of brilliant...Kelly even had a good inning for a change.
  4. JimyWocky was benching Bichette after he went 4-for-4...that was when the team had virtually no depth and still Jimy couldn't figure out who to play.
  5. I remember all we did was bitch back in those days. We had no choice.
  6. It is I from the long ago Can chat of Globe...
  7. This is by far the only Red Sox team I think I've seen where it's virtually impossible to be upset about anything. There is just nothing to really say. That's why I stayed away from board for so long.
  8. Cora showed a lot of faith in Swihart when Hanley released...paying off now
  9. not too many walk-off, ground rule doubles...that's rare
  10. Where all the white women at?
  11. I'm a big fan of Price and his performance as a reliever in the past postseason. He needs to step up and be that type of pitcher in big games. When he signed that giant contract, he became public microscope guy and he has to have a big season in 2018 especially with Sale and Kimbrell on the staff.
  12. Less is More-land.
  13. I'm just hoping the Sox will be in the Moose Mussina sweepstakes.
  14. Most batters today go up there not being afraid of being called out looking. It's becoming fashionable almost amid the power of hitters and the abundance of 100-mph pitchers. Sure you could look for pitches to drive, sit on a pitch so to speak. But if you are last in HRs and you are not generating offense via the basehits and walks, you better start swinging at pitches that are close with 2 strikes. The approach by Pedey and JBJR in their at bats were passive. Astros hitters were drooling to hit with men in scoring position, they are up their free swinging. That's okay too, and it's a better approach than the Sox were taking. The umpires are calling pitches up in the zone, down in the zone, off the corners. Some are calling them differently from pitch to pitch...all the more reason to stop taking 2 strikes unless you know for a fact it's high or way off the plate. Otherwise, protect the plate. Period. Keep your at bat alive, do something. Twice in this series, announcers were saying the Astros are conceding a run, meaning all the Sox had to do was put a ball on the ground, and in both spots the Sox struck out and popped up. Pathetic.
  15. The only reason why this was funny was he had been ejected several innings before, and I just found the timing priceless...Ultimately, Farrell is an idiot. When it's all said and done, he put the vaunted 8-9-1 of Vasquez, JBJ, and Pedroia...and his replacement refused to pinch hit for any of them down 1 run in the 9th. Yes, let's send up those 3 one more time after putrid at bats all game.
  16. You can make a strong case that all 3 of the Sox final hitters after Devers HR should have been pinch hit for...Leon lefty, Holt lefty, Young for a possible HR...The 3 in a row of Vasquez, JBJR and the horrible Pedey was a logjam created by Farrell...Yes, I know Vasquez hit well and had one good ALDS game, but Leon has been a clutch hitter for them last few seasons and had a great game the day before...Anyway, it wasn't meant to be. No use of bench in a 1-run game.
  17. Sale looks like vintage version...nice. Pedro 99 = Sale and Price
  18. All about the power...Beni delivers and now this is a Verlander v. Sale game...why they took out Morton after he was throwing so well in the previous 5 batters...bizarre
  19. I tell you what, I think Rick Porcello did his job...3 innings, kept the team alive in an elimination game...I'll take it.
  20. And tell me just how did Benni screw up? He was in a lead from 1st, and the ball was smoked by Mookie. he's thinking get to 3rd not going back to 1st. It was just dumb-luck. Moreland is the guy who has to get a giant lead...if he does, maybe he has a chance. But I think he is just so slow and frankly you have to send him anyway. Hanram keeps coming through though, and that's to take away from this.
  21. That goes down as the worst postseason inning pitched ever and NOT GIVE UP A RUN...UNFREAKING BELIEVABLE!!!
  22. The Moreland check swing was the worst call, by the 3rd base ump...bad call...and oh yeah, still the best starting performance all series done by 2016 Cy Young.
  23. there have already been famous blown calls in WS games....including a throw to first KC-STL, and a certain batter's interference by Ed Armbrister not called in the '75 for a pertinent example.
  24. Astros hitters don't f*** around...they take big swings
  25. Yes, they were close and too close, so no, yes, you have to protect the plate.
