  1. The better team doesn't always win...but if you can't hit for power and your best pitchers can't pitch under pressure...going back to last year v. Cleveland...not much you can do. Francona goes to Bauer and gets a shutdown performance. Sox they go to...Fister? Ugh.
  2. Because Farrell sits everyone, and everyone is used to taking days off...there is no fight in a starting lineup that changes every day...every single day.
  3. Tell me again how Addison Reed doesn't sort of remind you of Mark Melancon?
  4. At least the Sox can say they won back-to-back division titles.
  5. ORTIZ, WHY DID YOU RETIRE??? WHY?? ....just kidding.
  6. If the Sox hit one home run in this playoff, I'd take that. one, just one lousy HR. to give Hanram credit, he was also looking for a walk earlier in the game v. Dallas. It's not like these guys are looking to drive a ball for their team. NO f***ING POWER.
  7. To be fair, Verlander and Keuchel are Cy Young guys...all there are out there are Cy Young guys on both teams.
  8. As sad as this sounds, I really would start Porcello over Fister. I realize Porcello is a torch job, but maybe lightning in a bottle in one more playoff outing to decide his fate. Fister? I can see 4-run 1st inning and it's over quick.
  9. Tyler I was talking to my brother and this was hours before this game started. I kept saying, if Pomeranz has a short outing or is beaten up (both happened), would be nice if Farrell chucked the Silver Linings Playbook and went with Price to START game 3. That ship has sailed. The fact that he went to Carson City Smith, who looked a lot like Calvin Deer in Head Lights Schiraldi, before Price and then waits till its a 3-run deficit to bring in Price, but not thinking ahead that maybe you just worry about games 3,4,5, with Dallas Cy Young on hill...that tells me Farrell is not thinking and his advisers aren't helping him either. Naturally Price has thrown great.
  10. by the way, now Fox is talking about what I said...Price being available in game 3...that ship sailed.
  11. See Grady Little for can't fire guys who win...Yes, you can.
  12. I was just happy to see the Pats hang on v. Tampa and the B's hang on v. Predators...This team? Need Joe Foy, need Elston Howard, need Longborg. Need a lot of things.
  13. Sox can't even help the Hurricane effort...can't hit Home runs...Dead last AL...and it's catching up to them v. a power team.
  14. Bradley can hit .200 and i'll keep him in CF for the rest of his life...he is the greatest defensive outfielder I have ever seen and ever will see.
  15. Also on the bright side is Farrell may be fired. Need someone else to spark the dugout. Had Lovullo and f***ed that up.
  16. No power...you can't win without power...Sox won in 13 with power hits in key spots...Home runs win playoff games...Ortiz v. Detroit. Gomes v. St. Louis. Damon v. Yankees in 04. Varitek v. Angels with Pedro on the hill in 04 ALDS. Trying to scratch runs with marginal hitters is not working. Astros haven't had to worry not once this series. It's a 2-0...On to Boston. For Fister (cough).
  17. Xander. Which Xander is he? Is he the guy who didn't hit last in year's playoffs? The guy who doesn't hit in 17? Which one is he?
  18. I really felt that he should have been held on to til Game 3. But it is what it is. Sox have nothing working in the pitching staff until Porcello and Price pitching in relief. Put them in starting roles like last year and it's a torch job. Never seen a team with so many Cy Young guys looking like Sy Sperling.
  19. Pedroia is just making one bad decision after another. Betts calls him off...and he was lucky to catch that. Give Price credit, he's pitching great for 217 million, just not in a starter role. So he's the highest paid reliever in the history of baseball.
  20. on the bright side, Pedroia and Sale showed their leadership qualities. Make that the dark side.
  21. I had no idea he was killing us? Oh wait, you mean the 3 home runs and the rip single in the 1st at bat? oh that. And that he is the best hitter in the AL/NL and maybe on the planet
  22. Dombrowski and Farrell set this team up to fail in the postseason.
  23. no heart, no power. Astros win with power, extra base hits, and they just sit on lefties. All the Sox have are lefties...too many lefty hitters, too many lefty pitchers...
  24. Where all the white women at? Oh wait, I thought this was the Black Home Run Power Matters room.
  25. Holt made a tremendous play at 2b and has filled in adequately. Don't really care if he leads off or not.
