  1. jung, you have all the right and freedom to criticize the Sox, no problem. Just saying this is one of the few Sox teams that pretty much wins like those 14-2 Pats teams.
  2. It is when all you dealt with was gloom and doom like I did for a lot of years. Now I'm going to enjoy a winning dominant team...it doesn't happen often. I'm very pleased with this team and find very little to whine about it.
  3. By the way, I was far more critical of Sox teams way before you were born.
  4. Call it perspective. Team is 50 games over .500...50...80-1 in games they lead after 8 innings or something ridiculous like that, but hey the bullpen sucks, and the Sox catchers can't hit, and Brian Johnson is terrible (but keeps being involved in Sox wins), and Cora can't manage in game situations. Whatever.
  5. Boy, you would have loved the pre-2004 Red Sox teams. Bitching for a real reason back then.
  6. to answer the thread's question: No. Again. No.
  7. jung, two long-time Sox fans called you out. Sounds more like you have a problem about quite probably a 105-win team. I'm enjoying everything. I told an Guardians fan who was gloating, "we beat you twice in a row!", I said: "hey, win all 4, get it out of the Sox system." That's because the team won't lose 4 in a row and responded with 3 HRs and a 10-spot, which pretty much is why this team just keeps staying on a roll, consistent and winning. This is a special Sox team, no guarantee on winning a WS, but all the components to do so. Zero complaints.
  8. vegas, same guys seem to own this park annually. it's like they can't wait to come to Fenway.
  9. Red Sox are winning? Unusual for them to score 6 runs or more in a game. Is this the same Red Sox team that has done that all year?
  10. Of course, who homers tonight? EE
  11. Fenway lovers include Melky Cabrera, Nelson Cruz, Edgar Encarnacion, Kendrys Morales, and every banjo hitting Oakland A.
  12. I wonder how many singles were hit in that 25-day period off those same relievers?
  13. Kelly disappoints me in that he has good stuff, but he just can't harness it enough.
  14. I used to call him Bad News Barnes, but he's been solid. Hembree too, liked that both can strike a guy out when it absolutely has to happen.
  15. From a pen standpoint, Barnes numbers impress me the most out of those stats.
  16. This loss is an indication that when you are 50 games over .500 in a league with some pretty good teams like Cleveland, NY, Oakland, Houston, Seattle, chances are you are going to lose some games to them and in a row.
  17. f***ing Bowie Kuhn!!!! That basthid!!!
  18. We can always buy a reliever...or not in this case...love this photo of Petrocelli shaking hands with one of the great relievers ever.
  19. Johnson is sort of this year's Dana Kiecker or Al Nipper. Or in other words, I'm going EROD, Wright before him. I like BJ, but he can get hurt very quickly in a playoff game start. But BJ is a better relief option than Pom and you have to have a lefty in some situations, so he might be better suited in that role. EROD will get his innings.
  20. I would rather see Betts, Bogie, Beni, JD, Pearce-Moreland, Kinsler, Holt-Nunez, Leon, Bradley
  21. Kimmi, he is very technical and looks to barrel up, but he often does swing at bad pitches and can look really bad, but I really believe it's why he has become this video/technical hitter..to keeping bad at bats to a minimum...yet he's hitting .332 2nd in AL to Betts and has HR and RBI numbers off the charts...so I can live with any bad at bat by him. It's called baseball. Plus he's a power hitter, you can't avoid taking big cuts.
  22. Hembree and Barnes are 1-inn guys and I'm okay with them (Workman I still like too).
  23. Playoffs SP is pretty simple---Sale (if he doesn't have his shoulder fall off), Price and Porcello...but EROD and Wright supply that extra middle relief or even a long relief if a SP gets hammered early, or throws too many pitches. Then you don't have to rely so much on that back-end part of the setup pen. Velasquez is good. Barnes is okay. Kelly? Thornburg? Brasier? Kimbrel I have faith will be fine in his role.
