  1. Sure. It’s happened before. Philadelphia is an ideal landing spot. They can use. Bogaerts to buy time for Bryson Stott. (The Yankees are in a similar position with Volpe and Peraza, but I consider that less likely.). An acquiring team might try to extend Bogaerts. And if they do, so? Bloom will probably only trade him if he gets a replacement now like Correa or Story, which would mean Bogaerts was gone anyway…
  2. A shortstop would be a big step in the right direction…
  3. Right. Because Bloom will be the only GM with limited time. Also I do doubt no GMs worked out anything with each other “in principle”…
  4. Proportionately, howeve, it’s closer. A straight total will always favor RHH. MLB has only about 35% LHH and 28% LHP. So that list of 15 hitters has one lefty and 4 switch hitters. If you look at each switch hitter as .72 RHH, then it becomes 3.88 LHH, which makes for roughly 25%. So yeah, still low. Need 2 more switch hitters to make it right…
  5. Hey it’s been a while since anyone argued about Baltimore being best at anything. Sure it was corruption, poverty, and violent crime, and not, say, baseball. But you take your wins where you can get them…
  6. While I see the obvious logic behind Rodon, there are even more obvious reasons that make Suzuki a better choice…
  7. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of Bogaerts or Martinez starts 2022 in another uniform…
  8. Largely due to the abundance of RHP. But yes, they do also start closer to 1b. Good point about shorter throws on pulled hits. But overall, it seems they do have an advantage and a disproportionate number of lefties rank among the game’s best all time hitters…
  9. Could be done but it’s safer to leave 3b exposed than 1b..,
  10. Well, that’s why “some” hitters don’t adapt. But we also keep worrying about the Matt Olson’s of the world and ignore how many Adam Frazier’s already do this. Should the game cater all its rules around left-handed sluggers? Are LHH now upset that their once advantageous genetic quirk has now been normalized?
  11. But without the fielding, it’s nothing. I’m also not sure why being a skill matters. By that logic, MLB should ban intentional walks. No skill involved. And not exciting. And hey, they prevent hits. The trifecta of bannability!! The job of a defense is to prevent offense, right? So what’s the basis for banning the shift? It works too well?
  12. I don’t expect free swinging sluggers like Freddie Freeman or even Rafael Devers to adjust. But if teams start using more hitters like Luis Arraez to beat the shift, I’m ok with it…
  13. Read Rosenthal’s link provided above by 5Gold. They couldn’t agree on how to wait?
  14. Why not just send her to Mars? The shock value going from La Jolla to Baltimore might be a bit too much. You should have her transition her way there. Maybe start with 6 months in Topeka or Little Rock first…
  15. Isn’t fielding in itself a skill? Just because a ball is hit directly at you doesn’t make it an automatic out. (Infield fly situations excepted.) And those analytics just place you in the best area, not where the ball will definitively be hit…
  16. Pitch clock. Just use the one in the rulebook. Universal DH. Pitchers don’t take hitting seriously, and it does hurt the game. I don’t care about base size. Go wild here. I’m for the International Draft, as it would eliminate a lot (but not all) of the corruption around and exploitation of Dominican 13 and 14 year olds…
  17. That’s the downside to the shift - it works. But it’s part of the game. And just because Freddie Freeman can’t adjust is no reason to ban it. The first year pitchers threw sliders, I bet hits went down on that pitch, too. Should MLB have banned the slider?
  18. The nicest area of Baltimore is the Inner Harbor. However, no human being has ever visited this area without being accosted by homeless people…
  19. Chicago in the house!!
  20. But what we learned is all of us together matter less than Freddie Freeman…
  21. So the owners want an international draft badly and presented 3 options to the union. One of them “international draft and no more free agent compensation.” Another one was to set a date in the future and if an international draft could not be worked out, re-open the entire CBA. The players countered with a fourth option - basically a combo of these two. If we can’t work out whatever needs to be worked out for an international draft by a certain date, re-instate draft pick compensation. Sounds reasonable. The owners walked away without discussion. It’s like the owners realized the union was willing to work with them and decided that was just not acceptable…
  22. See? No unwashed masses…
  23. Hey at least you guys enjoyed the Astrdome. In Chicago, we’re still paying off land for an Olympic village and we never even hosted the Olympics!!!
  24. You think people who have accrued enough wealth to own a baseball team actually listen to the unwashed masses?
  25. Don’t they all have yachts and mistresses and exotic animal zoos to change their moods? I mean, who can stay upset while watching a slow loris?
