  1. He did request a full NTC, and received it…
  2. Plus he’s from Nevada, so he’s reasonably close (by MLB standards)…
  3. I’d rather leave both in the pen but I think we’re one injury away from both in the rotation…
  4. I’d rather extend Bogaerts than sign Bryant or Freeman
  5. Oh so now you listen to interests and rumors?
  6. Right, because it negates pitch counts. Notice I called it an “added benefit,” meaning not the primary reason…
  7. The “third time through the order” business has the added benefit of reducing injuries. This is especially important for younger pitchers like Houck where the ability to pitch 150 to 180 IP against MLB hitters is in question…
  8. Most publications actually rate Duran pretty high. It’s the fans who say “he didn’t set the world on fire in 107 plate appearances!!” who are down on him…
  9. Maybe everything went right in 2018? Not like the preseason expectations for that team were all that lofty…
  10. Ok. Fair. Of course that had to do with a stellar AL East. And yet despite playing in a division with 3 other 90 game winners, it is impressive that they also won 90 and made the postseason…
  11. Casas, Duran and Lugo for Murphy, Manaea, and Andrus…
  12. 4 games over Pythagorean doesn’t seem “incredibly fortunate”. If that formula had a +/- 5% tolerance, we would have been within range…
  13. I imagine this opens a huge door for Houck or Whitlock….
  14. Not much for free agency to fill this mega-void. Time to call Dave Forst?
  15. Possible. Of the two, I’d prefer Correa. But I can see Boston passing on both. The more exciting fallout would come from signing Freeman, as it might mean a bigger follow up by dealing JD or a blockbuster by dealing Casas…
  16. For someone who’s not mad about a simple clarification, you sure are dedicating a lot of time and energy (and rationalizations where you speak for other people) to why it was so unnecessary.
  17. Suzuki to Cubs, as some have said. Schwarber close with Philadelphia. Correa and Freeman are running out of options…
  18. There is definitely some impatience among Sox fans since the team hasn’t made a free agent splash since JD Martinez. But even without making one, they did win their most games since 2018, and won only one game less than in 2017 and 2016 when they took the East. So they won one less game in a clearly tougher AL East without free agent splashes, but no one still wants to stay that course…
  19. No one looked at the Braves grabbing a bunch of borderline starting outfielders at the deadline last year and thought “that puts them over the top”…
  20. Freeman can make sense if you think of Casas as a replacement for Martinez. JD might not even break camp in Boston with all these NL teams needing a DH now. Or if he does he has just the one year left…
  21. There are still a few capable relievers available…
  22. To be fair, Diekman has had a pretty good career. But yes, McHugh is the better relief pitcher. Now McHugh has had more health struggles, if that matters…
  23. At 85, I’ll take the over on Hill…
