  1. If it’s medical, he gets a pass. But a hypothetical yet realistic scenario is the Sox could have a game 7 in Toronto this October…
  2. How else are they going to combat Lou Gehrig’s disease?
  3. Right. Thanks for telling me what he was like in the dugout…
  4. I have no idea why Houck isn’t vaccinated, and it does seem like the overwhelming majority of those who aren’t have chosen not to be. But there are some who are allergic to one or more of the components of the vaccine. If Tanner is one of those, then there really is nothing he can do…
  5. No I just think Nomar’s legacy is unfairly tainted…
  6. And who had multiple working Achilles’ tendons. Nomar’s days as a shortstop were coming to an abrupt end at that point…
  7. If it was his personality, certainly they could have done better than Orlando Cabrera…
  8. It’s been over 30 years. Surely that water has cooled down by now…
  9. I know. Fans run with these things. I render after Beer Gate fans posting their disappointment with Lester for letting himself become an alcoholic….
  10. Despite his clearly harmless weapon of choice? Ever try to incapacitate someone with a empty hot dog roll? It’s not like he filled them with Fenway Franks and force fed them to anyone…
  11. He had tendinitis in both Achilles’ tendons. What is so mysterious? That Steve Buckley liked to paint a different and unflattering picture? Yes let’s put our faith in a guy who once made a big ordeal of Roger Clemens throwing hot dog buns…
  12. Actually they seem more similar than you state. For example, the “sulking game” from Nomar, you omit he sat out because he was injured. https://www.audacy.com/sports/mlb/nomar-clears-air-on-why-he-sat-against-yankees-in-2004-game
  13. I miss going to the Patriot’s Day morning game…
  14. Possible. And if the Sox are out of it, he will need to approve that opportunity himself…
  15. Also Houck is apparently not vaccinated and therefore not allowed to make his next start in Toronto. Not an injury, but definitely a big missed game…
  16. He was upset with the contract extension offer made by Boston. That actually sounds similar…
  17. I think the only way the Sox trade Bogaerts is if they fall out of it. Unless they work out a deal between now and the trade deadline. And if they do fall out of it, Bogaerts has no team options to incentivize him to waive his NTC. It will just come down to whether or not he wants to move on to a contender or play out the string in Boston…
  18. I also remember there were issues with his contract and the Sox offered Nomar 4 years/ $60 mill while the Yankees offered Jeter 10 years / $189mill. It’s odd that in 2004 we just blame the player for the sun-market contract but in 2022 we blame management….
  19. Xander’s OPS+ after less than a dozen games might not be as relevant. Let’s see where he is after 80 games. That a .785 is 31% above league average might be more attributable to a lack of spring training…
  20. It’s a bit early, but Nomar’s OPS in 2004 of .867 with Boston does tell a different story. It’s probably close to where X might be, but right now he isn’t there yet…
  21. Based on what? Stories written by people you don’t know about other people you don’t know? Nomar was the better hitter and the better fielder. And like X, he wanted to be paid accordingly with his peers….
  22. True. Which does make Bogaerts’ opt out inevitable. But at the end of the day, all decisions are in the hands of Bogaerts. The original question was whether or not Boras has had his clients waive NTC’s. And he can’t have them do it or not do it. He’s an adviser and a negotiator and, to Bogaerts anyway, an employee. What he is not is a decision maker…
  23. So the trade is a bust if Bradley goes into a slump? Bradley is the better overall player of the two. One bad season in 2021 doesn’te that….
  24. And if the Sox can trade Bogaerts and it leads to a ring, I’m all for it. Aren’t you? I don’t expect him to get dealt. And I’d be surprised if he was and the Sox won it all…
  25. Boras has no say in whether or not any client waives a No Trade Clause. Even if Boras advised against it, Bogaerts could waive it and all Scott could do is read about it on Yahoo sports…
