  1. At some point on there, I believe he also traded Josh Reddick for Andy Bailey. The move had very little impact, as Bailey got hurt a lot, but it was part of his very active off-season…
  2. “Winning the off-season” is how you facetiously describe a team that spent ton of cash on big name free agents and/or made high profile trades and still only got marginally better. “Well at least they won the off-season.” Are the Globe pundits suggesting sarcasm as an off-season plan now?
  3. “Win the off-season”? What does that even mean?
  4. Still like the idea of trying to pry Blake Snell from San Diego and taking the contract off Ha-Seoung Kim, who did post 3.2 fWAR last year. No idea if San Diego is interested, but they do have two $300mill contracts right now and the acquisition of Juan Soto figures to add another mega contract that dwarves the deals for Machado and Tatis…
  5. Is there any indication Miami is willing to dilute the return by attacking players they signed less than 12 months ago? It is possible they recognize they have a rare surplus of starting pitching and want to convert it to talent in other areas…
  6. Agreed. I think Betts only having one year left at a cost of $25mill was a bigger factor…
  7. Why do they need to say goodbye to Devers to sign Correa?
  8. Not really sure moving up or down makes much difference at all anyway. This isn’t the NBA…
  9. Whoever it is needs to be traded ASAP…
  10. Last Boston start?
  11. You still need one. Tyler Naquin isn’t getting anywhere close to $10mill…
  12. Pham is a free agent and is probably gone. He has a team option but not one that should be exercised. The Sox already have two outfielders in the gold for next season. I’m hoping they can fill out the OF with Brandon Nimmo. Of course Bloom might go and trade Verdugo just like he did Renffoe and Benintendi before him…
  13. How do you know none of that is decided? Just because we’re in the dark means less than nothing…
  14. Bello’s stuff isn’t likely to be the biggest factor in determining his place in the rotation; it’s his IP limit. Counting two minor league levels, he’d thrown about 150 IP this year, which is already 30 IP more than his previous career high. He’s not going to be penciled in for 180 IP next year…
  15. Except Drew Waters on the Royals….
  16. Sawamura was DFAd. Options are for players on the 40 man roster…
  17. Have you seen the rotation Tampa is taking to the postseason? Or that Baltimore has ridden to the best second half record in MLB? Or that St. Louis is using to take the NL Central?
  18. Not true. We do need SP, but if the pen limits the opposition to 5-6 innings per game for scoring, it can work out well. Of course you need to be 7-8 pitchers deep in the pen and maybe more to pull that off…
  19. Agreed that a killer bullpen is more important than an ace. More pitchers look like aces when you only need 5-6 IP from them…
  20. I think he’s saying his source isn’t fully updated…
  21. And Detroit where Dombrowski famously couldn’t build a pen) is the outlier the other way…
  22. You left out the most overhyped one of all - Vaughn’s college teammate Kevin Morton. And he lived up to the hype for exactly one game…
  23. But Buckley criticized him for things like throwing a bag of hot dog rolls…
  24. It was a lot of uninsightful rehashing…
  25. That was back when every member of the Herald writing staff each decided they would write only negative stories about each of the Sox stars. I believe Steve Buckley was the one tasked with hating Clemens…
