Thinking the Sox need to do some buying. The following SP are all reportedly available and more desirable than Eovaldi Luis Castillo Pablo Lopez Jose Urquidy Zac Plesac Aaron Civale All are controlled for 2023, a year in which the Sox rotation would look to have: Chris Sale James Paxton Josh Winckowski Kutter Crawford ??? One ? as of today, and Paxton is not exactly Mr. Durability. And of course, Sale is only averaging 16IP per season on his new contract. At least one more SP is essential. And locking up Devers and/or Bogaerts will only negatively impact the available cash for a free agent acquisition…

Cleveland will reportedly listen on Plesac and Civale, both of whom are better options than Eovaldi. But they presumably will also be more difficult to acquire. Per BTV, Civale and Plesac combined have the same surplus value as Jarren Duran. This actually isn’t so surprising as both starters are entering arbitration eligibility and going to get more expensive, whereas Duran will continue to both flyballs rather cheaply for a couple more years. Obviously Cleveland isn’t making this trade, but there may be framework involving Duran and one of these SPs…

No. Keep Bogaerts. Re-open negotiations. He might go for a 5 year $125 mill deal, which is really just a 2 year extension (albeit a pricey one at $65mill). Deal Eovaldi, JD and Hill and/or Wacha. And any reliever not named Houck or Whitlock should be available. Schreiber should be expensive so if someone wants to pay up for him, it’s worth considering. The rest, especially Barnes and Diekman, just take whatever…

LOL Are you pretending the “take top offer no matter what” list is about anything more than replacing frustratingplayets with other frustrating players? Exactly what elite prospects do you think Hill and Strahm will return? If the Sox were to actually rebuild, Schreiber is an actual worthwhile trade piece. Bullpen needs are rampant and with fewer sellers he might be the best available name. That he’s clearly having the best year doesn’t hurt. But if you’re giving up 2023, why keep Schreiber? He is having a career year, better than any since A ball. He’s 29, so not likely part of a rebuild. So other than he’s not frustrating today, why keep him? You have younger players than him (and Refsnyder) like Irdero and Dalbec that you’re ready to throw in the towel on…

Agree 100%. How many people on this board will stop being Red Sox fans if Bogaerts is elsewhere next season? The Sox will lose 0 fans. But many of them will complain even more…
