  1. At some point upper management does acknowledge have over $100 mill and 4/5 of your rotation on the Injured List at once is a detriment. Losing Sale all year on its own has been a big factor…
  2. I think Judge is moot. The Yankees are extremely unlikely to let him go…
  3. I’d prefer Devers over anyone except maybe Soto if SD can’t extend him. But I strongly suspect they will..
  4. If it came down to a choice between Judge and Bogaerts, Judge by virtue of being an outfielder makes more sense. But it’s Bogie. I just like him better than that pinstriped Frankenstein monster…
  5. I doubt the Sox even have a chance to pursue Judge. Especially if he sets the AL home run record this year…
  6. And he’s rarely as healthy as he’s been this year…
  7. No idea. To be honest, signing Bogaerts and Judge while extending Devers seems unlikely and prohibitive
  8. Probably because he’s not a free agent yet. The post only appeared to discuss positions in question in 2023. And not even all of them (DH?)
  9. I didn’t know Dave Forst gave you power of attorney. I actually doubt Yorke’s status has taken as much of a hit. Scouts still love his advanced approach and overall hit tool, and one season won’t immediately change that, especially for a 20yo. Plenty of guys his age struggle as sophomores in college but go on to get drafted early…
  10. Hey he’s still available. So in defensive specialist/offensive non-entity Lorenzo Cain…
  11. The most obvious trade target to me is Oakland’s Ramon Laureano, who played CF and RF ( not at the same time; but that’d be cool) and has probably the best arm in MLB. He’s second year arb, meaning trade bait in Oakland. Lately Dave Forst was trading for quantity over quality, like with Chapman and Olson. But he did go for quality with Montas. BTV accepts Yorke and Duran, but I doubt Boston parts with Yorke. Bello and Duran, whose speed in a spacious Oakland OF helps in the corners and whose salary fits their books, is more likely. Pending approval of Forst, of course…
  12. Dalbec has 2 innings at 2b, fewer than Christian Vazquez. A lot of those weird positions were more due to injuries and late game switches with no one left. More of a Cora thing. That said, Dalbec is a corner outfielder and needs to be moved there in the immediate future…
  13. Yes. Very poorly…
  14. Players do change positions all the time in the minors and even in the majors. Bloom did keep Duran on the OF, but one reason to do it is the Sox system is completely devoid of outfield talent above A ball, with only Rafaela Cedane as the exception due to a recent promotion to Portland. So if they put Duran back at 2b - not the worst idea - who plays CF?
  15. He had none. Duran moved to the outfield in 2018, two years before Bloom was hired…
  16. If the “backup” is a talented defender who can’t hit, I don’t mind. Vazquez wasn’t a good hitter when he first came up, either and had a 69 OPS+ for his first 1,000 PA…
  17. I wasn’t really sure if the tile matters. We fans just glom on to the most frequently mentioned name in the media. But Dombrowski really did not replace Cherington; he replaced Lucchino’s. And reportedly wanted to keep Cherington, but probably on a leash. And we keep forgetting actual GMs like Brian O’Halloran and Mike Hazen…
  18. And one Twilight Zone episode…
  19. Well, Cherington and Dombrowski both made us wait an eternity - three years. Bloom clearly looks to surpass that. But there’s always Dan Duquette (0 titles) and Mike Port (0 titles in his one year) that have us still waiting. Of course I’m mixing ranks here, since some of these guys were GMs as some were VPs and such..
  20. Blocked by who? A guy who played 9 more games in his career after Duran was drafted? That was pretty poor planning. (Also wasn’t Betts’ conversion to OF hastened by the early struggles of JBJ? Betts did start out in CF.)
  21. All the ones from 1919 to 2002…
  22. His ceiling doesn’t change. In fact taking Boston out probably hurts him
  23. If the Sox offered him 6/$150, his agent might advise him to take it. I would imagine his ceiling is the $175/7 Semien got last year…
  24. Are dummies protégés of ventriloquists?
