1. Renfroe was not homegrown talent. 2. While the trade didn’t work out this year, Bradley is a much better overall player than Renfroe. There’s a reason Bradley had a multi-year right figure contract while Renfroe was playing on a $3mill deal after being non-tendered. 3. It’s not accurate to hold trading Betts against Bloom. Dombrowski was unable to extend him, and then went on to extend Bogaerts and Sale, leaving no budget room to extend Betts anyway. And keeping one last season of Betts would have been worse.

They did offer Mookie $300 million, nearly $100 million over the largest contract in team history. I would think some level of comfort had been achieved. From what I recall, the talks for the current extensions of both Sale and Bogaerts didn’t even start (or at least get serious) until after talks with Mookie broke down. In fact, my impress was had Mookie signed, in no way would the Sox be able to extend Bogaerts and Sale…

No. I’m trying to stop the endless drivel of criticism and potshots of other posters who don’t agree with someone. It’s ridiculous. You don’t like how the current Sox are faring. We get that. You prefer to look at each season as an individual bubble. I don’t agree but also don’t make it personal or try to paint everyone who looks at it that way with a broad brush. (Not counting media; they’re fair game for all.) That Elktonnick did the same thing or if someone posted a pro-Bloom post is not an excuse. Disgree? Absolutely fine and no one will deny you that. If they counter with reasons, legitimate or not, that becomes the basis for discussion.
