  1. So… not Tomase, the man who “broke” Chicken Gate?
  2. No parent conference?
  3. Was the chicken and beer scandal the most overrated scandal in sports history? As AJ Pierzynski said “I’ve been in three clubhouses on three different and seen that in all three.”
  4. True, but if you do pay the price, just know it can be greater than just the cash. This team is the inevitable result of previous overspending…
  5. Interestingly the staff is being carried by the recent additions. The top 6 fWAR pitchers are all Bloom adds, with the inherited pitchers lead by Houck coming in later. Crawford had become the gem of the inherited pitchers, having an fWAR equal to $63mill worth of Eovaldi, Sale and Price combined. Despite not drafting much pitching, it’s odd to say it is getting better with Crawford, Winckowski, Whitlock, and Schreiber all looking good. I don’t see much in the way of blue chip prospects beyond Mayer. I get the impression Bleis will be one. I think Ceddane Rafaela could also be one. One neglected aspect of this team that has carried over is the overall horrible defense, which does make the pitching look worse. And it’s not just the OF defense, either…
  6. Oh I don’t care how much he spends personally. But since I know he isn’t going to spend that much, I like the big, cumbersome deals a lot less…
  7. The whole “saving Henry’s money” angle has always been stupid yet somehow it persists…
  8. They should have made the play on Trivino, which, as the second out, likely nullifies any squeeze attempt…
  9. I thought he was worthless DFA material last year. Lately he’s the staff ace…
  10. Well, they didn’t actually trade them. Does that not quash it?
  11. Another one who thinks the Sox don’t have spending limits. There’s a difference between “worrying about Henry’s money” and just acknowledging he’s not going to have a $300mill payroll…
  12. JD had an AAV of $25mill, so he would put us close…
  13. No. Wrong. Evans was a complete player who could hit, field, throw, use power, work the count, make contact, and put up career numbers worthy of Cooperstown. Renfroe can hit home runs and throw hard, sometimes on target…
  14. Like it or not, the Sox have a budget limit…
  15. And which one of those three was going to play 2b and alcohol become insurance at SS against not signing Bogaerts? I suppose Rodon is the most logical choice despite being left-handed, because Schwarber and Jansen are both former catchers…
  16. Well we already tried Jenrry Mejia. Let’s give another member of that 2015 Mets’ bullpen a shot. If Familia flops, maybe Bloom has Bobby Parnell’s phone number…
  17. I wouldn’t say catcher isn’t a priority. Maybe offense from the catcher isn’t, but they clearly value defense. As shown by the acquisition of McGuire and near-acquisition of Jacob Stallings…
  18. I can’t even imagine me as the GM. If the Brewers offered me Bradley and prospects for Renfroe, I’d probably waffle back and forth on the deal looking at the pros and cons and cons and pros until long after both players retired…
  19. And get a leadoff hitter capable of getting on base!! Nimmo will probably get a QO, but can the Sox work a deal for Ketel Marte? Or sign Kolten Wong?
  20. Reportedly he’s not much on defense, but he is a hitter. I think he settles into an MLB bench role. The one thing I really like about him if he’s a huge Red Sox fan…
  21. To be fair, that jab was at a system. Of course, they did probably use a similar system in 2021 and the bullpen was extremely good that year…
  22. Agreed. Not sure why but for all the minor leaguers Bloom has accrued, only Winckowski (and Gambrell, who looked more like a throw-in) have been pitchers…
  23. Moving him from LF to RF is different when it’s a one time move, as opposed to having his position depend on the opposing starting pitcher. Also, there’s a really good chance that the Sox don’t share the opinion of Verdugo’s defense…
  24. I’m hoping he extends Bogaerts and Devers , but I honestly think it’ll just be Devers…
  25. Because none of us have ever run an MLB franchise??
