  1. Jansen’s issues with the pitch clock are a bigger deal. Last year he averaged 31 seconds per pitch. The new clock will be 20 seconds..
  2. Or Swanson - as the “interest” rumors persist!! #clickbait
  3. Not Tanya!!!
  4. And then that executive said “Excuse me. I have go sign a player for over $340mill”
  5. So trading Bogaerts was higher priority than returning to the ALCS? Or beyond it?
  6. So… the proper evaluation of Bogaerts is that he was worth $280mill from now to his 42nd birthday? While I agree they underbid their own player (which is how they had Bogaerts 2020-2022), given the money being flung around this off-season, the Sox are on the short list that isn’t overbidding, right?
  7. From what I know of him, he’s far down my wish list…
  8. Not getting the Conforto Love…
  9. And gotta make way for the Gallo Train!
  10. Kiermaier and move Kike to SS?
  11. Price was becoming an injury-prone mediocre pitcher who was still owed $96mill over 3 years…
  12. I wonder if he will be around for 2023…
  13. Now if the Sox sign Nimmo (MLBTR projected 5 yrs / $110mill, so he probably signs for 7 yrs / $160mill), the could move Kike to SS and replace Bogaerts with basically the same hitter…
  14. Agreed. And Politi is probably 50/50 for getting returned. Ward right now might be the Nats’ 3 or 4…
  15. Good news! As of yesterday, Verdugo is most likely the RF with Yoshida taking over LF…
  16. I think they want to do it, but have not had the chance with the payroll what it has been. It would have been really hard to lock up Devers for 10 years $210mill two years ago, because he might think “that’s JD Martinez money. Do they think I’m not better than JD Martinez?”
  17. I think the plan is obvious now. Bloom, with help from other GMs, plotted to flood the market with quality shortstops, knowing full well his former employer simply could not resist them. And once Friedman had bloated his payroll with an army of shortstops, Bloom will strike! And pry away via either trade or contract offer - Friedman’s prized (non-shortstop) possession in Juan Soto, and do it while an engorged Friedman lay helpless like one of those cartoonish Roman emperors on a big fluffy pillow being fed grapes…
  18. Replacing Bogaerts’ bat can be done, even on the free agent market. Or maybe that was they did with Story last year…
  19. Do you don’t think the Sox are going to adjust their prices to meet the market? I guess it’s what Henry wanted all along. Welcome to Tampa North…
  20. Devers in 10 years will be less of one than Bogserts will be in 6…
  21. Devers in 10 years might not be. Bogaerts in 6 might be…
  22. The plan so far is: 1. Drain the farm to get the best young player in the game today. BUT DON’T EXTEND HIM!! 2. Ignore pitching. 3. Acquire every shortstop in the game. Once we have them all, we can trade them FOR WHATEVER WE WANT!!! [insert maniacal laughter here.]
  23. Is Bloom the guy setting the limit here? It’s certainly possible he determined Bogaerts would be an albatross after 5 or 6 years and therefore wouldn’t go any further. (He might be right on that, too.). But it’s also possible Henry capped the budget or vetoed longer deals…
  24. I don’t think anyone thinks the Sox should have matched or topped that insane offer. I think the feeling is of the Sox had started out with a 6-7 year $150-170mill offer, X would still be here…
