  1. So far, the only one to link the Sox to Hamels is 5Gold..
  2. But LaLoosh was in the much, much better movie. And let’s not forget John “Blackout” Gatling, both inspired by and played by Brad “the Animal” Lesley…
  3. Kluber says he’s in. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10016948-corey-kluber-eyes-red-sox-in-2022-mlb-free-agency-theyre-well-aware-of-how-i-feel Of course he says that to Boston every year…
  4. He had a rough year in the California Penal League. Nuke LaLoosh is the better bet. Or Steve Nebraska…
  5. Most of the best hitters in franchise history were lefties. The thing is, the past few years there were so many strategies solely focused on getting lefties out. Have acsidesrming LHP in the bullpen who throws maybe 25 IP all year. Re-arrange the infield. All that is gone now. If teams suddenly exploit it, I’m all for it…
  6. To be fair, we have heard multiple stories about #1 priority already this off-season. And unless you just beamed onto this planet last week from the outer reaches of the Horsehead Nebula, then you’ve been done this road before and KNOW that the only true #1priority for any team ever is the most expensive player added that off-season. We’ve all seen those press conferences a dozen times where the GM says “Milton McMillionaireface was our number one priority all along.” So far the leader for that press conference is Yoshida…
  7. Especially those who called to fix the pen during the season…
  8. Does it really make a difference to you? You’ve already made up tor mind on what you’re going to believe and what you’re not anyway…
  9. I’m sure they will add starting pitching. (Or bullpen and push someone into the rotation.) It’s only December 11. That’s lots of time and options left. I don’t think they ever had a chance at deGrom or Verlander. We’ll see what is on the agenda, but I suspect more short term deals. Catcher? Occasional rumors persist. Nothing too believable. Also DH IMO could use some oomph…
  10. Unless they do something surprising like sign Correa, Mayer is not going anywhere this off-season. Although next possession, when he’s closer to MLB, and if Mikey Romero stays the course and continues to impress, maybe then…
  11. I also doubt the Sox were the only team in on Yoshida, immediately went to an $18mill AAV, and then learned he wasn’t Senga…
  12. Me either. I think the Sox bowed out long before anyone boarded a plane…
  13. That surprise story was more than just the transaction. The originally Story is that he was blindsided by it. Subsequent stories are he knew the negotiation was over and Bogaerts was talking to other teams. All of those Red Sox/Bogaerts in “intense negotiations” stories appear to have come from Camp Boras as a way to drive to the price. And it worked…
  14. The whole story about learning about the Padres deal via tweet while boarding a plane was also on MLBTR. Simple question - does the CBA permit teams to make public offers they make to players?
  15. Ok but someone needs to explain to me how Bogaerts’ contract doesn’t do the same thing. Or are we supposed to believe the Padres still think Bogaerts will be worth $25.5 mill at age 42?
  16. Well, the story about Bloom learning about it from a Heyman tweet is discredited. And frankly, what’s the source on the whole 4 years $90mill at this point?
  17. But that’s not the story being pushed on these boards!! I suppose next you’re going to tell me Epstein didn’t trash those hotel rooms when Contreras signed with the Yankees…
  18. There’s no loophole. He took him in the Rule 5 draft. Dombrowski clearly likes Song. He drafted him before. The reason you never see players drafted in Rule 5 from the Military List is Rule 5 players are too often in AA and AAA and still playing. They’re usually close enough to MLB that hoping they stick for one year isn’t such a gamble. Teams rarely take active A ball players. Taking inactive Military List is unheard of. Would you draft a pitcher who had only pitched in A ball four years ago and not since. Heck, unlike Ward, I don’t even blame Bloom for not protecting him; Song is the highest risk if taken. But it makes more sense for both sides if a trade or other arrangement gets worked out…
  19. Who do you think acquire the players? While he did get the recommendation from Pedro (which of the type of thing that happens all the time), Epstein saw something right with the nerd factors with Ortiz, despite two organizations already giving up on him. You see all this happen all the time. You just never want to give credit. Unless it’s Dombrowski. With Epstein, apparently it was the players. But Dombrowski did it all himself, presumably after saving the whales and winning Mr. Universe…
  20. Then why the f*** did you bring it up? Oh that’s right. You said it in the post. That gloves over bats failed once before, so therefore it always will. Or it was a personal attack on my acumen. The only other option is it was a stupid Strawman argument…
  21. Really? You don’t think 2003 to 2018 was the most successful run in this team’s history? 11 postseason appearances and 4 WS titles? Or at least their best run since 1912 to 1918?
  22. If the Sox sign Correa and extend Devers, maybe some will realize the season isn’t decided on December 9? I do think they’ve did a deep hole. Not one that’s impossible to get out of, but certainly not one that’s easy to get out of, either…
  23. Two posts up…
  24. I think either you misinterpreted something. Sing was on the Military List in Boston. Even his Soxprosoects.com page lists both 2021 and 2022 as “DNP - Military List”
  25. If so, then he gets 15 days in MiLB and then the Phillies have to keep him in the majors all year, despite his not having thrown a pitch since his 17 IP in low A ball 4 years ago. As reigning NL champions, doesn’t it seem like he could be a serious liability at that point? Even if they try to bury him in the bullpen?
