  1. I’d greatly prefer Andrus, since Rojas really only had the one good season and is very one dimensional. But I also think Segura is probably most likely…
  2. I do think Bloom knows what he’s doing. I also think what he’s doing is not what a lot of fans expect or, in many cases, want him to do. The plan is clearly unpopular, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist…
  3. Story is certainly an option, but it appears as though they are exploring keeping him at second…
  4. Or maybe find another Chris Murphy. It’s a common enough name…
  5. Yeah Bloom has been just throwing money all over the place. I think the issue here is you made your mind up any Bloom a long time ago and now you’ve gone to fitting the stories to match your opinions. Certainly not open-minded…
  6. As opposed to a 35yo pitcher that’s made 26 starts total in the past two years. Now THAT is a building block…
  7. Do you remember your point? Teams only go in for Verlander (and his ilk) when going for it, and the Sox were in no position to do that. So tell me how 68-94 Texas is in a better position? And hopefully your argument doesn’t hinge on them finishing ahead of Oakland…
  8. And if we only use one season, do we conclude Elvis Andrus is a better home run hitter than Bogaerts? There’s a reason most use multiple seasons. I prefer 3 years worth myself…
  9. Maybe he gets dealt for a shortstop? Verdugo for Ames Rosario? Cleveland is swamped with middle infielders and is starting (per Roster Resource) someone named Oscar Gonzalez in the OF. Granted he did have a big postseason home run…
  10. And Toronto didn’t sign Kiermaier to put him on the bench, but sometimes you can make a trade that improves your team even more. If money allows, why shouldn’t they?
  11. Are you really going to lead with “4th place” as if it was such a major accomplishment? They won 68 games and finished 38 games behind Houston. They finished 18 games behind Tampa for the third wild card. Just because they played in a division with the more incompetent A’s didn’t make them closer to contention than Boston. Remember when you repeatedly crapped on Boston’s hit stretch as being just against a bunch of bad teams?? Those bad teams are Texas’ division!! And they got to play them 76 times out of 162 games!! Oh but now those teams are clearly all better positioned than Boston.
  12. I have heard the stories about his bulking up and that it didn’t go over well…
  13. Texas spent more on deGrom despite winning 10 fewer games than Boston…
  14. Old Red has already written the future. Just like he’s already filled in all the blanks from the past…
  15. You’d start him over Devers?
  16. Why? Bad teams often sign veterans on short deals. If the team didn’t turn everything around, they become trade bait at the deadline…
  17. You must be thrilled that the Sox avoided Verlander…
  18. The Sox reportedly offered Eovaldi 3 years. Not sure of the money. It’s hard to say Wacha is a lock to get more than Kluber right now since no one has signed him for anything yet…
  19. Gallo was right there looking for a deal. Maybe trade for Ramon Laureano? How about Verdugo in LF, Kike in CF, Laureano in RF, Yoshida at DH, and Turner to the bench?
  20. Did you read mvp’s post #36?
  21. At pitching. In what way is Wacha better? (And Wacha may not be out of the picture FYI…
  22. The Sox pitching staff is already better than last season’s. And it’s still December and they still have (per educated guessing, admittedly) about $20mill to spend…
  23. Yes. Next question…
  24. I get the Pirates taking Davis, as he was a division 1 college player closer to MLB and they had Oneil Cruz locking up SS…
  25. It’s possible and I am putting that possibility out there. We know Devers’ talks centered around his future as a 1b/DH. Think they ignored Bogaerts ability to play SS long term while discussing a long term contract? Frankly it would explain why only 4 years were offered…
