So Bloom can be frustrating with his inactivity in replacing injured players during the off-season. When Sale went down last February, I get using Houck as starting options were limited and replacing Sale isn’t easy. But I didn’t get not backfilling Houck in the bullpen.
Now with Story down - and the Sox already down one middle infielder - still no movement?
Elvis Andrus is an easy temporary fix for losing Bogaerts. For Story, why not Jurickson Profar? He’s easily the best position player (and maybe the best player period) on the market. While he primarily played LF last year, he did play over 1,000 innings at 2b as recently as 2021. While he’s no Frank White out there, he does at least bring serious OBP to the table.
Maybe the Sox can’t or won’t sign both. But at least get one of Andrus and Profar. Or get both and we can rebuild that 2016 Rangers’ infield…
