  1. When it comes to Stanton, never say “back” and “locked” in the same sentence…
  2. A little early. But I will put him on my Watch List if you like…
  3. But his team flops in the playoffs because it conflicts with the start of his Pop Warner league…
  4. Aren’t you a little old to still be playing Little League?
  5. Tampa has the best offense in the AL. Minnesota actually is at or near the bottom. Those might be factors, too…
  6. It always seemed to me the Seminoles, Gators and (especially the) Hurricanes were more popular than the Dolphins…
  7. I’ve heard many times the issue with that stadium is the location. I assumed it was out in the middle of a swamp or something. But then I went to St. Pete and it’s right off the highway like so many other stadiums. So what’s the deal? Terrible traffic? No parking?
  8. Think those attendance numbers in Philly stay up if wins stay down? I’m not so sure “star power” is the attraction nearly as much as active, high-spending offseasons are, since those send the message to the fanbase that ownership will not let money stop them from competing…
  9. If Cora did that, folks would freak out..
  10. The Savior!!!
  11. The prime candidate (along with Ort) for “most questionable use of a 40 man roster spot”…
  12. Brasier really isn’t horrible. We’ve seen worse, and anyone we try to replace him with is more likely to be a step down than a step up…
  13. There is no place to sweat the mop up guys. Even in a thread titled “Sweating the Mop Up Guys” Now if we get to a point where Ort is needed for meaningful innings, I’m on board with moving him out and getting a capable (or even an untried) replacement…
  14. Or at least move up in the lineup…
  15. Vazquez was a free agent. He was going to leave in 2 months unless the Sox topped the Twins’ offer. Also didn’t his replacement have a big hit last night?
  16. I’m sure they will, but not hard enough, and it won’t matter anyway…
  17. It wasn’t me, but probably just a matter of opportunity. I’m glad Sale had a great outing. Not actually surprised because 1) Fangraphs had his average fastball velocity at a respectable 93mph before that outing and 2) the Twins’ offense is dreadful. Still he managed to exceed my meager expectations and (more important) not get hurt. Now I can go back to my off-season prediction that the Sox season depends heavily on Sale…
  18. Ooops. I somehow slipped on that. Still. The plan is obvious. Hire Hall of Famers and put them up for stud. Let’s farm out Pedro and Chipper and Bagwell. Jeter’s already busy doing it for everyone else. Maybe McGriff? Baines. Just not Craig Biggio…
  19. Complete lack of key hits against the best staff in MLB to date. Makes Devers’ poor baserunning decision (or possibly Carlos Fables’ decision?) to not try to score on Yoshida’s ground out in the first much more significant…
  20. I e been anti-Brasier since 2019, but if he’s the 7th or 8th man on the bullpen depth chart, the bullpen fine
  21. Paxton might be cleared by Thursday…
  22. And the utility guy was the one spawned by a Hall of Famer* *Until Vlad Sr. gets inducted…
  23. So other positions cannot be mentioned in passing?
  24. But you’re not listening to him…
