  1. There’s a big, big, big difference between extending a pitcher with an injured pitching elbow and signing an infielder with a flexor strain. Did the flexor strain even cost Story any games last season? He missed a lot of time with a wrist fracture from getting hit by a pitch, which is obviously completely unrelated…
  2. In pitchers, maybe? For position players, I’d be surprised. Not many position players get TJ, or even the substitute. As for signing him in the first place, I simply never liked him as a fit. But as for his flexor strain, I don’t know much about it, but probably wouldn’t have been too concerned unless he was a pitcher.
  3. Story had a flexor strain in his elbow. Normal treatment is rest and anti-inflammatory meds. If the average man on the street checked via WebMD, he would have seen they rarely require surgery. Of course, treatment for athletes is often a bit more aggressive than treatment for the average WebMD peruser, but that this came down to surgery appears to be new recent developments and not the flexor strain he had in 2021…
  4. I’d be surprised if teams had the ability to force a player to have surgery…
  5. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/mlb-rumors-red-sox-linked-005300441.html Not ideal, but better than most rumors…
  6. All it says is Cora liked Dalbec better as a college pitcher than as a college hitter…
  7. Another point worth remembering is Duran might only get half a season or so to make something happen because Ceddane Rafaela is right behind him. And while Rafaela’s offense poses just as many questions (if not more), we at least know he can bring the leather…
  8. That article is over 2 years old and gained zero traction in that time…
  9. And that Arroyo was better than JD…
  10. Over 15 years. He might be amenable to that same cash over 10-12 years…
  11. Are you referring to 12 year MLB veteran Wade Miley? The same Wade Miley who has been worth as many fWAR in fewer starts as Nick Pivetta in the past 5 years? I’ve heard worse complaints about pitchers…
  12. So if the Sox DFAd Duran and Dalbec over Hosmer, you would have liked that and not complained about dealing away any potential? If you don’t like that the Sox kept them over Bogaerts and Vazquez, take it to with the MLBPA and their demands for free agency…
  13. Crawford had a good stretch as a starter. If he was the 7th or 8th starter, that would make sense to me. Winckowski just strikes me as a reliever…
  14. Curly!!! Is this even a question?
  15. Certainly possible. But I think he will be…
  16. And all of that just to get to Oregon! You know they got to the end of that trail and thought “Really?? This it is?!? I’d rather just get dysentery!”
  17. I’d totally avoid whatever that person was having…
  18. Did he? Not good. His 147 innings in CF don’t give me confidence in putting him there, either. Shame. He and Yoshida atop the order would definitely increase my confidence in this offense…
  19. Agreed. Unless they replaced him with an equally capable defensive CF. And certainly not Duran…
  20. And if after the 2009 season, someone had told you 28yo Jose Bautista - with his career .730 OPS and 59 career home runs in nearly 600 games and over 2,000 plate appearances - was going to nearly double his career home run total with 54 HRs in a single season, what would your reaction have been? At Duran’s age, it’s too soon to simply give up. Chances are very good he never improves, but then a lot of teams said the same thing about Bautista…
  21. That players such as Thad Ward and Darwinzon Hernandez, and maybe a few other were let go while he stayed out…
  22. I certainly don’t like: 2b: Arroyo and/or Valdez SS: Hernandez CF: Duran If they leave Kike in CF, I’d prefer 2b: Profar. D might be lacking but his OBP is needed at top this lineup. SS: Andrus? Iglesias? Mondesi? (KC prefers Witt at SS), DeJong? (St. Louis prefers anyone else at SS) Mateo? Amed Rosario? Wendle? Any other available shortstops? I’d even say I prefer Dalbec at SS if it keeps Duran from starting in CF, but then some unnamed poster will somehow interpret that to mean I think Dalbec should be the SS. Not naming names…
  23. Or … get a SS and leave Kike in CF. Trade Duran, either for a SS (Mondesi?) or a non-40 man player and go get DeJong…
  24. Devers, Verdugo and Turner.
