    Those guys barely combine to make what Price made (in two sets). Price was signed almost 8 years ago and only Devers has topped that deal. And the Sox were able to unload Crawford and lots of other deadweight early on. That deal had 0 Albatrossivity…

    Casas is cheaper but he is definitely a question mark at baseball’s easiest defensive position…

    Duran is an exciting offensive player at times, but he isn’t all that much of a CF (although infinitely better than he was last year). I do like the idea of a Duran/Garrett deal. Certainly Florida needs the CF help, what with a misplaced and oft-injured Jaz Chisholm out there. Duran-Arraez might be an interesting leadoff combo, as well. I’m sure Miami has a different assessment of Duran than myself and BTV…

    BTV actually gives Duran and Casas nearly identical trade values. Duran’s surplus value is $45.7mill while Vasas’ is $47.5mill. I do expect Duran’s to drop more next time they run numbers…

    Devers at 1b, (the untraded) Duran in LF, Yoshida at DH? There is some hope there. But offensively I greatly prefer Casas over Duran as my keeper…

    Verdugo is the Sox second best defensive outfielder. Cora has repeatedly praised his defense. And he’s the only OF capable of playing RF. That said, he’s still probably the most likely trade candidate…

    And I’ll go another direction - the biggest problem is the defense. (Sox rank 26th in DRS, 30th in OAA) I’m hoping the off-season includes the following: 1. Trade Duran for a controllable SP. A deal for Miami LHSP Braxton Garrett makes sense for both teams. 2. Sign Matt Chapman 3. Move Devers to 1b. Casas to DH. 4. Extend Verdugo. 5. Put Rafaela in CF. 6. Live with Yoshida in LF as the sole defensive weakness…

    I disliked the deadline apathy as much as anyone, but to cite using openers those two opener games against Toronto is a bit disingenuous. One of them was more of a gimmick opener followed by Pivetta, who is an MLB starting pitcher. If Pivetta came in one inning sooner (after Schreiber allowed no runs), would this complaint be left? And in the other the Sox only scored one run…

    His fastball was a consistent 93-95mph, whereas in his first outing, he was hitting 95-97. Too small of a sample to draw any conclusions…
