  1. As a CF, Kike is light years in front of Duvall, who in turn is light years ahead of Refsnyder. Kike is the best option to back up Duran in CF…
  2. I think we do not see Duran or Yoshida. Refsnyder gets DH and Duvall in LF. Verdugo plays in RF as one of two lefties in the lineup. Casas sits with Turner at 1b. Around the rest of them infield we will see Arroyo, Chang and Devers (the other lefty, obviously). Plug Kike in at CF and Alfaro behind the plate and play ball…
  3. So is Arroyo the only player on the Sox allowed to go on the IL? If Duran goes down, who is the better option in CF - Hernandez or Duvall?
  4. I’m sure that conversation has happened. Cora is probably satisfied with Kike as a backup. It might have even been his idea for all we know…
  5. This is a cop out. 3 actual MLB franchises did pass on him. Jay Groome was the top-rated talent in the 2016 draft. So do we call this a no-brainer move by Dombrowski to take him at 12? You’re oversimplifying the draft process. Selecting the player is the easy part. Signing them is the tough part. Especially high schoolers like Mayer who have the option of going to college and re-entering the draft later if they don’t like their initial offer…
  6. #100 on this list Top 100 Baseball Prospects | MLB.com WWW.MLB.COM The Official Site of Major League Baseball
  7. As a bench option/supersub, Hernandez has value in Boston…
  8. I’ve been throwing out the name of Oakland’s Paul Blackburn for a while now. He’s not the most exciting SP, but he’s capable. Of course he’s under control for another year and makes little money, so Oakland might not be so keen on giving him away. I think just about every Cardinals’ SP will be available. Montgomery figures to be the costliest, but I’m sure Flaherty, Wainwright and Matz can all be had reasonably…
  9. Or… the pitching isn’t better because almost all of the SP have 150 IP+ on their arms already for the year…
  10. He did say Chang would not be able to play everyday at first. Kike is reality the only option left. Plus Cora does seem to like getting Arroyo involved periodically, which I think is a good idea. Moving Kike to SS on occasion is probably inevitable. I’d like to see the Sox add a SS (Tim Anderson? Paul DeJong?) but I think it’s unlikely. So just focus on an SP or two…
  11. BTV gives him a surplus value of $(-4)mill. Given the most likely destination is Miami, that gives him less trade value than Barnes. He still may go, but the most beneficial return is an open 40 man roster spot…
  12. Are you saying Internet forums aren’t a glimpse inside the locker room? Kike’s ostentatious sneakers and hair are viewed as a sign of rebellion. Why? .600 OPS and 16 errors. Of course, if Kike had 3 errors and a .900 OPS, these same traits would be signs of leadership…
  13. So you’re saying 2 games out of the wild card is NOT a contender?
  14. Well, he had a good stretch after the ban, too. But that doesn’t mean he stopped cheating the day of the ban…
  15. Walks and HBP were non-factors?
  16. The home run was nice, but Hendricks was taking him down with 88-89mph fastballs. However, Chang is not in there to hit…
  17. Barnes had a few solid outings after the extension. His decline just came from nowhere. That home run from Semien seemingly changed him..
  18. Exactly. Jorge Soler had a .658 OPS for the Royals when Atlanta acquired him for 23yo A ball reliever Kasey Kalich and then watched Jorge win World Series MVP. Struggling doesn’t mean immovable…
  19. Wong is his best hitting catcher…
  20. It seems like his goal is to stockpile blue chip prospects, and hitting prospects are less likely to falter…
  21. And only open up one roster spot for the replacement. Pitcher? Hitter? Which one do you replace?
  22. From a guy who doesn’t like Devers…
  23. Don’t blame me. Blame Bloom. I don’t get to make the moves…
