I think fans often lock on the these kind of preferences when a manager repeatedly makes a move they don’t like or understand. Sometimes there are other reasons. Not sure why alike kept playing shortstop beyond the lack of obvious other options on the MLB roster. (In no way is Cora not giving input there, by the way.) Currently they are using James Outman in CF. He was a ROY shoe-in in April, but his .646 OPS since May 1 should open the door for the massive defensive upgrade Kike would give them in CF…

I’m not either, but it was frustrating watching him throw Kike out there day after day at shortstop. I think Bloom took far too long to promote Hamilton, whose weaknesses could/should have been discovered earlier. (Although it’s not hard to argue they haven’t been found yet given he only has 34 career plate appearances). And honestly, if they want defense, Ceddane Rafaela was in Worcester and on the 40 man roster…

Very short term and don’t count on him. The Sox signed Paxton nineteen months ago and so far he’s pitched all of 12 games. Durability was not part of his past and is therefore very unlikely to be part of his future. I’d trade him and still buy this off-season. The dumbest plan of all involves buying while counting on Paxton, especially after one year after the Sox went buying after counting on Eovaldi… -

Unless Duran actually did get hurt. But it’s hard to say. Cora seems to pull Duran if any left handed pitcher just exists on the opposing roster…

Duran came out of the game earlier after the 7th when Cora made a double switch.

Most likely a promising A baller. I think the BTV valuation is probably close. If it took someone like Romero (whom BTV labels a “Moderate Overpay” in this case), that wouldn’t surprise me. It’s not going to cost Mayer or Anthony or Bleis. Maybe Rafaela for a bigger overpay, but I think Bloom walks or looks elsewhere…

The Dodgers didn’t build a franchise that gets to the postseason every year by trading players like Emmett Sheehan for broken down rental vets like Paxton. Per BTV, Sheehan will cost Yorke. Unfortunately the Dodgers need Sheehan more right now…

I think if the Sox didn’t get some veteran players in those deals, accusations would be even more rampant (and truthfully, more justified) that Bloom was ignoring the MLB roster for the minors. Cordero and Bradley were already just likely stopgap solutions anyway. And the Sox acquired Hamilton, Winckowski, Binelas, Downs, Wong, Valdez, Gambrell and De La Rosa for those three…
