  1. I wasn’t huge on Bleier, but he was better than Jacques and Llovera…
  2. Too late for a firesale. Going for it is the best option. And hope you simply get hot like Philly did last year…
  3. You keep clinging to those guys as if they were in high demand. Do you really think a struggling David Paulino topped any wish lists anywhere? Nearly (if not every) player dealt for a pitcher was in AA or higher. Think Hamilton was good enough to land Montgomery and Stratton? Or should the Sox have just leapt straight to Mayer?
  4. You also didn’t actively campaign to deal any of them off with the same fervor for the past 3 years…
  5. At the very least, he should have learned from last year. Unless the overriding attitude was that the returning players will save the season. But even then, some stopgap help would have made more sense…
  6. Two years ago. 2021 deadline and I believe the deal Berrios was on expired either after that year or 2022 before Toronto extended him for far too much…
  7. How about that? The first guy on the “Ship Kike Out of Town” bandwagon is also the first guy to comment on his stellar performance since he was traded…
  8. I refuse to speak for Cora. That’s his job. Not mine. If you want me to speak for him, I will hypothesize that he doesn’t want to go to any pitcher on his staff - including starters, relievers, and openers - and tell them he doesn’t think they are capable and wants the front office to bring in a replacement ASAP. Cora does interact with these pitchers. What if Bernardino likes his opener role? Think Cora wants to tell him “sorry, but I’d rather have Paul Blackburn out there and have you pitch less”? The Sox do have a 10 man bullpen right now (if you count Pivetta as a reliever). The opener games are not as detrimental as they would have been 3 years ago when the Sox (like most teams) only had 7-8 pitchers in the bullpen…
  9. Finally some recognition!
  10. He certainly bears that responsibility, but do you think he works with Cora or operates independently that way?
  11. Minor leaguers…
  12. I don’t own a white flag…
  13. The “truth to me” is a non-existent concept. There is only one truth. Now the theory that Cora was on board and agreed it would be best to simply use the returning players is absolutely a possibility. Both Bloom and Cora talked about team needs, none of which were prohibitively expensive. Something made those needs not happen.
  14. 1. You were thinking it. Admit it. 2. How many “Bloom shopped player X” rumors were there? Did any of these really happen? There were stories about he could or should trade Verdugo. (Including one by non-insider me.) And there was another that any GM found the price tag exorbitantly high. I would expect the price tag to be high on any player not being shipped.
  15. 1. The Berrios-Duran trade rumors existed nowhere on this board. I know this because I made them up. 2. Berrios’ contract at the time expired 2 years ago while Duran has 4 years left 3. Duran is better than Berrios. And markedly cheaper 4. If I sucked at any activity as badly as you suck at trolling, I would quit it immediately and destroy all evidence of my participation…
  16. … as notin has said multiple times
  17. Apparently I did when I said you don’t wait 5 years to lock up a generational talent. Because you don’t and you have almost 0 leverage at that point.
  18. Well, he might have said what Bloom wanted to hear. It’s probably more realistic than your scenario where Cora begs for pitching, and Bloom channels his inner Mr.Bumble. “You want more pitching?!? You’ll use what you have and hope I don’t trade it away instead!!”
  19. Your reply also used the plural “supporters.”
  20. You’re getting advice that makes your posts more readable. Why does that put you in attack mode?
  21. Also I saw the first place Reds use journeyman catcher Luke Malle on the mound in back-to-back games. This might not be as rare as you are trying to insinuate it is…
  22. I gave him a Z- for his deadline activity. Do you really think that constitutes “support”?
  23. I look at it simply. The GM overseas the draft process and is responsible for the work done by his underlings. Dombrowski may have had no idea who Bello was, but he clearly knew enough to listen to the guy who did…
  24. If there is a bright side to the Betts trade, the Orioles did basically the same thing with Machado ( i.e. held him too long and then traded him to the Dodgers for piddlings), and their doing ok now. And Machado, like him or not, absolutely is a generational talent…
  25. Bloom also listed off a bunch of areas (back of the rotation, back of the bullpen, left-handed hitting middle infielder) he was targeting. At some point all that changed. Possibly a simple conversation Bloom: Do you think you can hold on with what you have until all the injured players get back? Cora: I think so. Nothing on this forum would convince Cora wasn’t in the loop. Because, let’s face it, he was. No GM doesn’t talk to their manager at some point. I’m not saying Cora’s at fault, but I am saying he was part of the plan at the deadline…
