  1. The White Sox aren’t moving Anderson. The AL Central is up for grabs and his option for next year is a cheap no-brainer for them…
  2. No one used the phrase “Red Sox Nation” until the 1980’s, and the first usage is up for debate between Globe sportswriters Nathan Cobb and Leigh Montville. (Source: ChatGPT)
  3. Big Papi was a minor league free agent when they signed him. That’s probably more in line with moves they would love to make now. Pedro, Schilling, and Beckett were all acquired via trade because the Sox had minor leaguers other teams were willing to accept in deals. Sure they were salary dumps, but they were all “dumped” in Boston because the Sox were able to put together better deals than other teams. That wasn’t the case in 2020. So far the best hitter Boston has brought up through their system since Devers is Duran, a guy Sean McDonough described less than a year ago as “not a Major Leaguer.”
  4. Defensively they are appalling. Without looking it up, I bet Hernandez has more throwing errors than Tampa. That experiment should have ended weeks ago…
  5. Probably, but the team isn’t run like a democracy. The only opinion that matters is Henry’s. And I’m not so sure he cares about whether or not you like it…
  6. That’s only your opinion. The Big Market Sox have had them before. The team didn’t go 86 years without a title because of repeated second place finishes…
  7. There were financial implications that Henry might not have liked. Learn to accept that…
  8. Well, if he was ok with that as long as his farm starts producing replacements. If it works, he has a competitive and cheaper team like Tampa has. Tampa went through a few last place seasons but has already made the postseason 4 consecutive years, something the Sox have NEVER done. Not under Theo. Not under Dombrowski. And they’re clearly poised to extend that streak to five straight years. If that’s the goal, this 2 year streak of missing the postseason (assuming they do miss this year) might not faze him as much as you want it to…
  9. The thing is, the decision to sell isn’t up to us, and certainly doesn’t guarantee improvement…
  10. But OBP isn’t based on BA; one is per at-bat the other is per plate appearance…
  11. Bloom could use a Time Machine to trade for a 22yo Cal Ripken, and Cora would still put Kike at SS, saying “we’ve seen some real progress from him.”…
  12. But unless John Henry starts posting here, it doesn’t matter. For all we know, Henry might have anticipated a prolonged sun-.500 rebuild. And if it starts looking better on the farm, that might be the goal. After all, maybe Henry regrets not letting Cherington finish the job of building the farm and regrets the financial implications of hiring Dombrowski…
  13. Bloom is responsible for not promoting Hamilton (now injured) and for thinking Mondesi would be ready. He did bring in Chang. But two nights ago, Reyes played terrific shortstop, sacrificed over the tying run and nearly put the game out of reach but for a terrific grab by McKinney. The guy contributed to a win. Why not play him?? Besides what makes you think if Iglesias came back, he’d be starting at SS over Kike? “Better defender” won’t make it happen. Ask Reyes…
  14. Devers did get robbed of a 2 run home run in the 8th…
  15. Paxton was terrific. Also the Sox got more than 2 hits. Heck they had more than that 3 batters into the game…
  16. This is why defense matters. Colorado only had their two runs through 9 innings thanks to another throwing error from Kike. Meanwhile Nate Jones saves two runs with some stellar home run robbing defense. And it’s truly sad that Cora blatantly refuses to notice that Gonzalez is a nightmare at SS…
  17. Yeah not sure why this was the time to bring in Jacques, lefty or not…
  18. Now see, that’s not any better. Now you’ve gone and made it sound like Sale also signs injury prone players. This might not be on the reader. Sale never belonged in a post about Bloom’s signings…
  19. Bloom had nothing to do with Sale’s contract extension. That one was inherited…
  20. Ok that’s how it’s going…
  21. Oh he probably still is. Or do you think Cora is actually going to move Kike off shortstop? That’s adorable…
  22. It caused him zero issues at 2b…
  23. Release Hernandez? Or Cora? I would understand playing Kike at SS if the Sox had to get, say, Rogers Hornsby into the lineup. But Christian Arroyo? And Reyes had a terrific game last night without even getting a hit. And gets rewarded with a benching..
  24. Story played nearly 650 games in the 5 years before coming to Boston. That’s about 130 games a year, and that number itself is deflated by a 60 game 2020 season (in which Story played 59 games). Injuries were not an issue when he was signed…
