  1. You clearly missed my caveat, which is ok since it’s on another thread (I think)…
  2. They didn’t have Lackey on 2012…
  3. I’m going with: Duran LF Rafaela CF Trout RF .. and doing so with my previously stated caveat..
  4. So not finding last is more important than winning a World Series?
  5. Ok maybe that makes him tradable for a missing piece. If we need a RH bat, that player has to play somewhere…
  6. Slot them in now!
  7. Oh it’s definitely a big risk I’m more confident in on an Internet forum under an anonymous moniker than I would be were I actually making decisions for the Red Sox…
  8. Another big factor not mentioned in the reduction in IP/start is that every team has an 8 man bullpen…
  9. Yeah they’re really good at making expensive messes…
  10. Count on who? The Sox? I’m all for hiring a new GM/CBO before trashing him. If you meant the Angels, maybe. They’ve made Anthony Rendon into a very wealthy spectator…
  11. The notion of giving a player an occasional day off and actually getting some action for the Major League ballplayer on the bench seems like a good thing for multiple reasons. I know a lot of fans complain, but I think it has to happen to some degree. I just don’t know we can’t give Cora credit for it as opposed to insisting it was all Bloom and Cora was forced to endure it like it was a huge detriment. It wasn’t driven by analytics, unless they were Cora’s analytics. I think plenty of managers have always done this. Not every player is Cal Ripken…
  12. A healthy Trout would be a great move on multiple fronts. However it’s not only 7 years; it’s $260mill over 7 years. Trout has been reluctant to move out of CF, so maybe he needs to realize it is time. He could also occasional DH in Boston - something he could not in Anaheim due to Ohtani. Trading Trout would give Anaheim a better chance to re-sign Ohtani. But losing out on Ohtani after dealing Trout would be a horrible PR move for that team…
  13. Per MLBTR, when the Sox and other teams talked to Wacha, he Al wanted 2 years $30mill. San Diego did give him that (plus an extra $2mill) but with a cheap year upfront followed by the team option, essentially giving Wacha a chance to prove he was worth his demand. Now did he? When he pitched, he pitched well. But the prevailing question is exactly what it was always going to be - did he pitch enough? If they wanted durability, he flopped. But there’s got to be a next-to-zero chance Wacha exercises his player option should San Diego decline. We all know he can do better…
  14. Agreed. He’s always been a weak outfielder and really, he hasn’t been the same as a hitter the past 2 years. Could he bounce back? It’s not impossible, but as he’s over 30 it’s going to get less likely every year. And who really knows how many years he is looking for…
  15. Hopefully that few…
  16. Should Duran be on the 2024 team at all? He can probably only play LF, and thankfully (for Duran’s sake) the Sox no longer have Adrian Beltre, who would frequently steam roll speedy Sox left fielders. But if they want a RHH bat, left field might be the best option. Although Toronto has this slick-fielding third sacker who does hit right-handed and makes a ton of sense…
  17. To play where? An Abreu/Duvall platoon in RF makes sense. Or should the Sox get a RHH to play RF? Is Teoscar Hernandez (.741 OPS) really that much of one? Or Randal Grichuk (.779)? Bring back Renfroe (.713)? Are any of them good enough to cover RF at Fenway?
  18. There were all kinds of stories about it right after it was built
  19. The point was about the right hitters who “led the way.” I mean, you actually avoided the AL MVP in a brief list of hitters who led the 1975 Red Sox…
  20. “Evans/Burks” while omitting AL MVP (Non-steroidal division) Mike Greenwell might also support this..
  21. I’m pretty sure his point was “you know, if you ignore the left-handed hitters, the best hitters in team history are all right-handed”…
  22. The whole idea of giving a player the occasional day off isn’t a bad thing. Not sure why dgalehouse is trying to politicize it…
  23. Led by righty swingers? You might have left out the AL MVP somewhere…
  24. The 600 Club/.406 Club/EMC Club altered the wind patterns. And in turn those new wind patters kept changing the name of the club.
  25. Pretty sure Cora is the one implementing the rest days. He was using them long before Bloom came along. And Farrell wasn’t so much for them despite working with a few metrics driven Sox front office types…
