  1. The old “team says we made an offer; player says they never got an offer.” Fans always believe the player, but no one blames the post office…
  2. You’re only saying that to push your book “If Mookie Did It”…
  3. Lugo and Coffey are already playing 3b…
  4. And he’s using Fenway Entertainment Group (or whatever) money for everything. Does he have a financial interest? Of course. But if the Sox sign a player to a big contract, does it affect him personally? Of course not…
  5. More likely OF depth, since every team has that “excess of shortstops” in the minors that the Sox really don’t have…
  6. He and Martin were never teammates, so probably not much there. Did you mean Jansen?
  7. Henry doesn’t pay for these guys with his own money. No owner does…
  8. How about “not” Opening the wallet and maybe trading for players under 30 wittily worn down ligaments that can actually stay in the field all week? No point in keeping all these prospects if you’re going to try it up all the position player roles for 8-10 years worth billions of dollars worth of contracts…
  9. They’ll go all in on a Ohtani just to watch him get hurt, too…
  10. Still it’s a poor job by Bloom that it’s still August and we still have Murphy and Llovera in this bullpen…
  11. It may be. But no way it is. It’s more likely just the first time he actually gave an answer…
  12. With stat checking, the Sox are tied for 14th in MLB for HBP with 56. Seattle leads the way with 91…
  13. You get them to demand a trade? I think ideally one game should be the max a player did for slumping…
  14. The Sox defense is really bad. I heard Pedro Martinez on the radio saying he felt it cost the team 10-15 wins. That feels excessive, but I’m not going to put a number in it. As for Verdugo, I do think he is likely to get moved, but if it happens, it’s more related to contract than defense. Personally I think moving Duran makes more sense for a couple reasons…
  15. And some of them, possibly all three, will prove worthless. Yoshida is a bit too new to MLB and, heck, the United States in general to give up on yet. Story is showing he has the talent, but needs to stay on the field. At least Devers has been the safest Sox contract since Bogaerts.
  16. None of them care what we think. Heck, none of them are probably even aware of this singular Red Sox forum out of the thousands of forums dedicated to the team over the entirety of the Internet. But does that mean I am not allowed my (remarkably accurate?) viewpoint?
  17. Especially one Abreu/Refsnyder are unlikely to bat in…
  18. The Sox apparently did try to bring back Eovaldi…
  19. DD and Cherington (whom I unfairly omit from my “Things That Stopped Henry From Spending” list) both seemed to have more financial free rein than Bloom. Granted, I don’t know how Henry feels about bad one year deals, but I have my doubts he hates them more than the deals given to Sandoval, Rusney, Price, etc…
  20. I did. Oops. Tried to speak your language. Of course my gripes at the time about Price were that he was already 31 years old with 1,440 IP under his belt, and not very likely to get better or maintain performance and health over the next 7 years…
  21. Well, from when DD was hired things played EXACTLY as I said they would. It wasn’t hard to see coming, except for those who liked to turn their heads. I mean, was Betts a generational talent or not? Did DD lock him up? Why do you give him a pass there? I mean, except for the obvious reason that you gave him a pass for everything. By the time Bloom came on board, it was too late to do anything but trade Betts…
  22. Was Price really worth 7 years $217mill thru age 38? At the time he had one season north of 3 bWAR since 2012. For reference, that’s the same number of seasons as a Brayan Bello…
  23. That’s not the numbers I keep seeing. 2023 is $7.5 mill, with a team option of 2 years $32mill. If declined, Wacha has a player option of 3 years $19mill, which he can exercise if he gets hurt badly…
  24. That’s 3 different administrations. It’s also possible the “lowball” offers never happened. Fans do have a tendency to believe the players over the front office, despite that the players are not necessarily involved in the negotiations…
  25. It’s not so much the money as it is having him get hurt every year for four years. I sprint have mine off they brought him back (preferably for a year or two). But Wacha is injured all the time and is 32 years old. That’s not likely to change from ages 33 thru 36…
