  1. Personally I get passing on Burnes, since he is so insistent on testing the market and the Sox are unlikely to blow him away. He doesn’t even seem concerned about poorly timed injuries ruining his free agency, like it did to his teammate Brandon Woodruff. If a pitcher isn’t worried about injury, you have no chance at getting him to extend early for less…
  2. BTV tells you if a trade is fair. It can’t tell you of both teams are interested. But it has caused a significant reduction in lopsided trade proposals that only made sense for one team. “Hey the Sox should trade Yorke, Dalbec, Hamilton and Murphy for Spencer Strider!” type deals…
  3. I don’t think Milwaukee is going to go for the “quantity over quality” deal there…
  4. Actually BTV is based on a combination of projection sites like Steamer, ZiPS, ATC or FGDC. Do you think teams don’t use projections? Sorry if BTV is too specific for you. Should we limit all conversation to say-nothing vagueries, like your contributions?
  5. That was two priorities ago…
  6. My mundane patience being confused for optimism is ruffling many a feather…
  7. I find right now the two most agreeable are dgalehouse and Old Red. Plenty of options remain. Most teams are in the same boat as Boston - not much done so far. Pitchers and catchers don’t report for 7 more weeks anyway.
  8. Milwaukee wouldn’t accept that. They’re overloaded with young outfielders…
  9. Plus the World’s Largest Supply of Florida Men…
  10. It’s not a bad offer, and it seems fair, but only Matt Arnold can really answer about something that specific…
  11. I could see one top 8 prospect plus some ancillary pieces. Maybe a gift basket from Harry and David. And the Cross matching pen and pencil set (yes, inscribed. Don’t be an unwashed heathen.)
  12. Disagree. But I think he won’t cost 2 of them…
  13. And Burnes isn’t projected to make $33mill in arbitration
  14. So Cora has no say, either? I thought he got Bloom fired…
  15. And don’t you think that bothers Giolito, Imanaga, Clevinger, etc.? They want $100mill, too…
  16. Ah but they never said which World Series. Little League World Series? World Series of Poker? These might both still be in play…
  17. At this point, I’m fine. I know nothing about Uwasawa. He any good?
  18. Judge actually reached free agency…
  19. Now everyone is editing for Snell to set the market…
  20. I’m on board with him, too, I just don’t think he’s underrated as much as he is simply plain old absent…
  21. What if they win 50 of their first 80? Still fire sale?
  22. Burnes has been extremely displeased with his results in the arbitration system. Rapport or not, he wants to be paid because he feels like he’s always been underpaid. He’s not taking a discount. I don’t bare how much he likes the clam chowder…
  23. In don’t even count LeMahieu, but the 6 I mentioned are will over half
  24. Don’t forget about Brad Keller!
  25. Soto, Judge, Cole, Stanton and Rodon account for roughly $170mill. The other 35 players on their roster account got the remaining $117mill-ish…
