  1. Somewhere out there, Juan Soto’s agent just said “Yeah, let’s table that extension talk.”
  2. Ohtani’s AAV of $70mill (which it won’t be because some money will undoubtedly be deferred) is higher than the payrolls of EIGHT MAJOR LEAGUE TEAMSin 2023 (source: Sportrac). Three of those teams did something last year Ohtani has never done - played in the postseason…
  3. And fun thing about the Rangers’ pitching. Despite all the big names, rising stars and reclamation projects they added, without looking it up, can anyone tell me who lead that team in IP?
  4. Well we don’t really know how Breslow feels about that. Let’s get through the off-season first. If the Sox are still in it at the deadline, hopefully Breslow won’t Bloom out on us…
  5. They might have to trade Mookie to afford him. Hope we held on to Verdugo and the receipt…
  6. MLB is adopting asking “does he have big arms?” as their new steroid test…
  7. Prophetic…
  8. I saw. Dude has a live arm. He’s easily as interesting as Yamamoto if not more…
  9. I’m expecting one free agent and one trade for SP. On the FA front, Montgomery is probably most likely, but I’m not justifying it. On the trade front, no idea who the leader is…
  10. No. You want a pitcher that you would call a #1 and #2 starter. Again, Texas won 68 games in 2022 - 10 fewer than Boston. Their best pitchers were Martin Perez and Jon Gray. They went out and added a clear #1 in deGrom, a borderline #2 in Eovaldi, and Andrew Heaney, a pitcher no one addicted to handing out those #1through #5 labels would assign one to. And don’t argue Eovaldi is a clear #2 while saying Chris Sale doesn’t count. Just because you think a pitcher does not net some role on the team doesn’t mean he can’t and won’t help…
  11. Maybe but I think you underestimate the Dodgers here…
  12. Only a handful? If we were in a position where there were only a handful of players that could improve the team, that would be a GOOD thing, right?
  13. Sometimes people don’t like to see moves outside of what they think/know the plan needs to be. With the exception of me once, no one has talked about O’Neil all offseason. And even I was only lukewarm on the guy..
  14. So you’re saying you haven’t learned yet that this is a normal pace for an off-season? It’s like this every year in which there in no early December lockout…
  15. Some say the Cubs still are as well…
  16. Did you know the 2022 Texas Rangers were 68-94?
  17. I’m wondering of the O’Neil acquisition puts Duran (or Rafaela) on the block…
  18. It is still December 9, and the overwhelming bulk of free agents and trade targets are still available…
  19. He’s talking about Rafaela…
  20. Last year, Cora said his future was in CF…
  21. He has played RF and CF. Not extensively, and no RF since 2019. But given that he’s played with some talented defenders this might not indicate anything
  22. Are they? Atkins shot that down last week…
  23. And was mentioned previously by notin…
  24. As far as I’m concerned, the deal is not official until MLBTR says so…
  25. As of now, those reports are premature. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/12/blue-jays-to-reportedly-sign-shohei-ohtani.html This usually means the free agent has made a decision, but then later found out his new team still has money
