  1. They kept him around too long. DFA should have happened right after that depressing outing against Houston. It should have happened before he was removed from the game…
  2. I don’t think the demand for Duvall is going to be so great that pitching is a necessity. You have to remember that in this weak free agent class for outfielders, Duvall isn’t the line bright spot. He’s closer to being part of the reason it’s weak. Bellinger is clearly top dog. Kiermaier was an All Star last year (although he carries Duvall’s durability concerns). Teoscar Hernandez is overrated, soon to be very wealthy overrated. Jorge Soler can hit.
  3. Trying Barraclaugh was one thing. But the road to DFA should have been a lot shorter…
  4. I don’t care if he does it from the moon, as long as he does it right…
  5. I think there’sa difference between going overseas to rebuild value and being exiled overseas. Miles Mikolas is one and Yasiel Puig is the other. Bauer was exiled but might get a reprieve if his story is true. If German spends a year on the Chunichi Dragons, he still has the same baggage a year later. Either teams ignore it or exile him. Ignoring his baggage next year changes nothing…
  6. They started out with Travis Shaw, which, ok, not elite but potentially serviceable, and possibly a good bridge to Casas. But they released him after like 12 plate appearances. Huh? Release him to hand the job to Casas? Ok, risky but understandable. Same even for Dalbec at the time. But Franchy Cordero? I’d understand it more if the guy ever played 1b or at least had a bat you needed to play, but he was neither of those things…
  7. It’s a weak crowd, but Duvall getting two years is still unlikely…
  8. It might not be as analytical as some people believe. Seems more like something a manager (and/or player) prefers…
  9. True, but I will consider arguments that he had aged out of that position before coming to Boston. He did put in his most time there since 2014. But if you like, he is a questionable inclusion that I don’t blame on Bloom…
  10. Absolutely, but they can just as easily do that a week from now as opposed to watching him pitch for the Doosan Bears for a year first…
  11. But unlike any of us, Cora has played through a full 162 game season and probably seen what it does to some players. Also do we even know if players are asking for the occasional rest day? Cora might just be giving them what they want (or need).
  12. The Arroyo in RF might not be so Bloomy. First of all, that was a lineup call, not like Arroyo was the obvious starter. The Sox did have other outfielders. And that could have just as easily been Cora trying to get Arroyo’s bat into the lineup somewhat regularly. The MIF mess over what years plural? You didn’t like Story/Bogaerts in 2022? It was a mess in 2023, and Bloom let it linger too long without trying other internal options (like Hamilton) after it became evident Kike was costing this team games…
  13. They had Dalbec playing 2b and OF in AAA, too. They did this because they knew he would never be an everyday player and wanted to see if he could fill a utility role. It wasn’ta bad idea and certainly not worth the uproar a lot of people (shout out to Tomase again) seemed to think it deserved…
  14. What if Martin kidnaps Breslow’s kids and makes a trade a ransom demand? Or what if he gets imprisoned fir one year for insider trading, but another GM is still interested for a reason no one can fathom? What if it turns out Martin is a huge fan of “The Last Airbender” (both movie and anime) and repeatedly annoys people talking about it? Or worse yet - what if he becomes a vegan? Still not trading him?
  15. Honestly how many of these guys out of position are on Bloom, the guy who didn’t fill out the lineup card? First base in 2022 was a huge mess that it took far too long to sort out, and even then didn’t work. Shortstop last year. Those were rather large Bloom mistakes. If Dalbec playing one game at shortstop makes you think the whole roster is a mess (shout out to John Tomase), maybe watch another team once in a while. Or rummage through old Sox box scores. It’s not the red flag some people (shout out to Tomase again) think it is…
  16. No. His OPS came in a half a season worth of PA. Why do two years? To actually get a full season out of Duvall?
  17. Even if the Sox are out of it? I do think Breslow should consider a potential off-season move of the 37 year old pitcher coming off a career best season while he still has the full year of control left.
  18. I do think it’s kind of weird that we have people insisting they know more about how these players feel day to day than Cora does…
  19. But those guys played those positions before Bloom. The whole idea was Bloom players playing out of position…
  20. Ng is certainly on the list. She was with him for years in LA, tried to get him to come to Miami last off-season (but budget limitations forced her to settle Jean Segura) and then reportedly offered Edward Cabrera for him at the deadline…
  21. No one gave Duvall a multiyear deal last off-season, and he didn’t sign until late January. Now he’s one year older and did nothing to alleviate any concerns about being injury-prone. I don’t think the multiyear offers are going to be there for him…
  22. No Martin? He’s entering his age 38 season, has one year left (at $9.5 mill) and not so likely to replicate his 3.2 bWAR performance…
  23. If you had t to name the Sox player most likely to be traded, Duran has to be at or near the top of that list. His best chance at sticking around is if they envision him as an everyday CF, which is possible. And his departure might be even more likely if BTV is right about him having some serious trade value…
  24. Sox are helped out by the fact the Turner’s #1 fan Kim Ng is currently without a club to recruit him to play for…
  25. I’m calling foul on these. Vazquez played 2b in 2019, before Bloom. Wong played 25 games at 2b as a minor leaguer with the Dodgers…
