  1. His entire evil backstory could be inadvertently liking an antisemitic Kyrie Irving tweet when he was actually trying to close Twitter altogether…
  2. “And save the receipts!!”
  3. Zero chance the Sox sign all three, but collectively they still might be cheaper than Yamamoto…
  4. Of course his budget was limited. They all have a limited budget. None GM ever has been able to spend limitlessly. What he spent it on was a different matter altogether and completely independent of how much he was able to spend…
  5. People freak out about that but it’s part of every GM/CBOs job. Especially when you’re not allowed to spend limitlessly. Was Bloom supposed to stop everything once he reached his budget limit? Everyone does that. Did you notice last week Kaleb Ort got claimed again?
  6. Other than maybe a bit of a tattoo addiction…
  7. He hasn’t been in the Blue Jays in 5 years. I get every Cubs game where I live (Chicago) and saw no issues with the man they call HDMH (Height Doesn’t Measure Heart)…
  8. He was one of a very small number of Major Leaguers to openly support the LGBTQ community on their Pride Day. Maybe that’s it…
  9. He made two picks in 4 years. And one of them was Jonathan Arauz…
  10. Fairly certain the alcohol issues were his sacrificial lamb to get out of any domestic abuse program…
  11. I stand by what I said before - no way were there going to be college football playoffs without an SEC team. Florida State got left out because they’re simply not worth as much to the NCAA
  12. No Wander Franco for 2b?
  13. Given the consensus surrounding Clevinger and Bauer, safe bet we’d be more judgmental.
  14. I’m thinking if Breslow likes Bryan Mata at all, the Sox will pass on the Rule 5 draft….
  15. And there is two sides to the changes in the game. Certainly the expanded wild cards make it easier to make the postseason, but also the 5 team divisions make it easier to come in last. Ignoring 2020, three of the Sox remaining recent last place finishes involved teams winning 78 games. The previous stretch also included several 78 game winners, not one of whom came in last..,
  16. Had Bloom acquired a starting pitcher in either season, either of those teams could/should/would have finished much stronger . Or, at the very least, used fewer openers…
  17. Scott Cooper had a bat?
  18. Honestly, I think the more recent years where the highs offset the lows and the current postseason alignment allows for better chances to get in. I remember plenty of years where Sox winning teams had no chance at the postseason and were instead relegated to “Yankees’ inferior little brothers.” The 2022 and 2023 teams both had actual shots at the postseason if the CBO didn’t flail away fruitlessly at the deadlines. And outside of 2020, which we knew was a step back, even the Sox last place teams have mostly hovered around .500. Not like we have seen any of them as unwatchable as a 55 win team. What does an 84 win 3rd place team that misses the postseason do that a 78 win last place team doesn’t, besides win one more game per month?
  19. Ok do you just want above .500? Let’s not pretend a winning record automatically puts you in the playoffs. The 1979 Red. sox won 91 games and finished further outside the postseason picture than the 2023 team did…
  20. Apparently that chant has now evolved into “please stop winnng titles and return to playing slightly above average baseball for a few years”
  21. A lot of those teams over .500 before didn’t even tease us with competitiveness. The 1979 Red Sox finished over .500. And also 11.5 games out. In 1980, they were over .500, but also 19 games out. The problem with those teams is they were bad enough to not matter, but just good enough that you knew there would be no tear down and the bulk of those players would be back next year…
  22. Bottom line being she might prefer being something other than the “wife of that Sox pitcher” while doing out…
  23. The connection of his wife going to med school in Boston seems like it should help. But I also think trying to attend medical school while being known as the wife of a Red Sox pitcher might be a distraction she prefers he not create for her…
  24. I do like a 3.3 bWAR pitcher more than a 1.8 bWAR pitcher…
