  1. And ERA only came about because wins was not a good way to evaluate relief pitchers…
  2. Well, actually it looked like a combination of two things. 1. Pedroia did have the 2b job locked up. 2. Bradley was struggling mightily as a hitter. They moved him where they needed help. Pedroia was the primary reason they didn’t need help at 2b. Brock Holt doesn’t belong in the conversation of players moved to the OF. He was a utility player who bounced around and never played 70 games in the OF in a season…
  3. You calling him fat!?! Real mature…
  4. Technically they don’t have a long term contract at SS. They just didn’t like Grissom there…
  5. Who cares? He probably can’t pitch either, but it doesn’t matter since the Sox won’t be using him there…
  6. Until Renfroe…
  7. I meant money. But time is apparently equal to money…
  8. I don’t think they are willing to spend, at least not as much as fans want. Henry wanted Rays-level efficiency. Bloom didn’t deliver. Next up - Breslow. But at no point d did the Sox say anything about going back to being a large market. Kia Sedona’s have full throttle, too…
  9. That’s because Bloom actually made moves. They may have been unpopular, but he did make them…
  10. It’s always fun when the guy who reignites the chat calls for the discussion to stop…
  11. You don’t think maybe only having 80 plate appearances was a factor?
  12. Hopefully Duvall isn’t out the Sox range this year…
  13. Henry could have ordered Dombrowski to trade Betts and then fired him for doing so…
  14. For what? We’d still need a 2b (which would take $10-12mill.) And on its own, that $17mill gets what? Another question mark like Giolito? (Technically it wasn’t enough to get another Giolito.)
  15. Also, “one of the worst pitchers in history” feels a tad melodramatic…
  16. But… but… but… the object of the game is to win…
  17. Yes. Kluber only pitched 55 IP. I expect more from Giolito…
  18. Hey at least I know what if be getting with Stroman…
  19. Reportedly Stroman approached the Yankees and was rebuffed. Since the tYankees were not in on Imanaga, I’m not sure anything there has changed…
  20. Bloom definitely has his dithering moments. But clearly h he was given limited time to maneuver. Breslow appears to be in the same boat…
  21. Yeah I’m not sweating losing Imanaga. I know nothing about him at all and have more faith in Giolito. I didn’t like losing out on Gray, and don’t think I will be too happy when we lose out on Montgomery…
  22. Or the Dodgers…
  23. Do you really think W-L record tells the story for a pitcher? Clemens was losing in the 7th inning of his first 20 strikeout game. Good thing Dwight Evans homered to make Clemens a better pitcher. Pedro was also losing his famous one hit, 17K performance in the Bronx. Thankfully Mike Stanley homered to make Pedro a better pitcher…
  24. Nope! I’m going to keep pretending I can interpret this stuff!
  25. Yes, you can use the eye test on TV to make INCREDIBLY OBVIOUS conclusions, like Kike isn’ta good shortstop. Of course, you could have come to that same conclusion without watching games and just reading box scores…
