  1. The alleged story on dumping Hanley might be one of the worst things I’ve ever heard. Brock Holt told a story you can find on the internet about a teammate in Boston who threatened to bring a gun into the locker room and then singled out Holt as one of his primary targets. Holt warned his teammate not to say things like that as he (Brock) had to report it, but reportedly the teammate didn’t back down and recant. Holt to this day refuses to identify the teammate, but several days later, Hanley was released. I was surprised at the time that the Sox cut bait wuth Hanley, but it makes sense after hearing this story…
  2. Agreed. Breslow is in charge, which carries a certain amount of culpability, but he’s not the reason many players on this team are simply not performing. To say it’s that he didn’t soend enough ignores obvious issues - such as the fact that 5 teams gave records as bad or worse than Boston’s, and four of them have similar or bigger payrolls. Two (Mets and Phillies) have significantly larger payrolls. Breslow has made stupid trades. Tibbs for May being the most obvious. I mean, if May was a capable contributor, why would the Dodgers sell him off in a pennant race? With 2full months left and no more waiver deadline, they were not going to unload any pitcher they thought they might need. And May was not going to be one they needed and they knew it. Dumb, dumb trade. Harrison for Durbin looks bad, but really it’s pure SSS right now snd each player has a lot of baseball left before their control expires. I didn’t think Durbin was the guy they needed, but he might prove to be an asset at some point…
  3. Well, he is available. And maybe he wants the chance to show up Breslow…
  4. It’s actually surprising the Sox still have a 5 man rotation with those 5 on the IL, Dobbins and Fitts in St. Louis, and have yet to add a SP to the 40 man.
  5. Lou? Lou Gorman? It’s been so long!
  6. How is “hitting, hitting, hitting” working out for the Mets?
  7. Their arms are all different lengths, so it should be ok..
  8. If his OBP is still over .500, call him up now!
  9. A change of pace to give ‘em a lefty for once.
  10. I do that already without making trades. I could finally explain myself!! Weird looks count as high fives, right?
  11. But even then, how many really pitched better after being traded? Sale? Did he really pitch better or just stop getting hurt? Before all the injuries kicked in and kept him on the shelf for 4 seasons, he was pretty damned good in Boston. Pivetta wasn’t traded and left via free agency. Sox did offer a QO, which you can argue was only for the draft pick, but realistically any team offering a QO - especially for a player like Pivetta - has to be prepared for him to accept. Harrison- A case of 23 IP in Milwaukee vs 12 IP in Boston. That shouldn’t count Rodruguez-Cruz - He has 4 IP in his career. This is list bulking. Priester - Did pitch very well in 2025, outperforming his own metrics. Yet to pitch in 2026. So is the list really just Priester? And really, he’s the one whose trade was the most confusing…,
  12. I think that’s technically assault and battery. Massachusetts has a law against it, I believe…
  13. All right. You talked me into it…
  14. Technically you just need to outrun one other person also running from the tiger…
  15. I wondered why they even recalled him Can you do one where they DFA Watson and call up Braden Ward?
  16. Even if Breslow survives this year, it will probably feel more like a political move than a baseball one, barring any miracles the rest of the way. But even if he does survive another bad Sox season, his seat just gets hotter for 2027. The Sox don’t seem to let CBOs finish out the season, either. Most seem to get replaced before the final game gets played. If they finish at or under .500 this year and don’t show marked improvement in early 2027, he will be gone by mid-August at the latest…
  17. That feels selective. Don’t the Sox have their fair share of players that have done better after acquiring them? Chapman, Whitlock, Romy, Narvaez, Slaten, Abreu, Weissert, Kelly, Samaniego…
  18. Crochet hasn’t been the monster he was last year, but thats also crazy to expect every season. But this year, the Sox started off with 5 easily named pitchers in the rotation. They really never had that last year. Hunter Dobbins was only wuth them briefly and still ranked among the top 5 in GS among pitchers…
  19. Cora may do well with veterans, but for all his background in analytics, he does appear to be very reluctant to move an underperforming veteran off a key position. Ladt year wuth Devers. This year with Story. Tracy hasn’t made any significant changes in this regard. It’s only been a handful of games, but it’s fair to question if he will act on this…
  20. Again, the Sox went 52-37 with a Tampa lineup from June through September. The point here isn’t that the Sox are secretly hitting, just that there are other ways to win besides thumping. Leading the league in home runs makes for an exciting team, but all it guarantees is more home runs. You’re old enough to remember the 1980’s when the Sox were at or close to the top in home runs every year, but also ended many seasons playing out a short string of meaningless October games. The Sox this year are underperforming. Narvaez is one thing; last year he was a productive cog, but he really lacks any history to know if that was a career year or not. Ditto Anthony, although he at least has a significant minor league pedigree. But players like Duran and Story are in the midst of career-worst seasons (in Story’s case on both sides of the ball) that have them among the worst players in the league at their positions…
  21. The Sox went 37-36 with Devers’ production; 52-37 without it. Explain why it was so essential that we’re back to these stupid “replaced his production” talks that usually require a 50 man active roster. Maybe some posters the Sox already spent more this year than last year and don’t believe perennially spending more money since they are other teams with cheaper rosters winning and ones with more expensive rosters are off to worse starts. Oh, and these posters also don’t blame spending or lack of it on Internet forum participants…
  22. Whats killing tjis team is collection of bad starts. Last year, after trading Devers, the Sox lineup featured C: Narvaez 1b: Toro 2b: Hamilton/Romy 3b:Mayer or Bregman SS: Story LF: Duran CF: Rafaela RF: Anthony and Abreu DH: Yoshida Thats not a better lineup than this year. Their “Star” Alex Bregman did have a .821 OPS, but only 18 HRs and 62 RBI. Somehow that mishmash above went 52-37. Certainly the team pitched well. Of course how does that pitching differ this year? Does not having Giolito make that much of a difference? Especially since his replacement (Ranger Suarez) has been pitching well?
