  1. Agreed. They need to have a minor league plan. That’s fine. They also need to realize many fans don’t care about that and it shouldn’t be the focal point of the message. A plan for the minors should be like your middle name; we all know you have one but we don’t need to know what it is. Unless it’s Leslie…
  2. Make the playoffs! Is this even a serious question? It’s one thing to not like the way ownership runs the team when they fail. But if they’re making the postseason (which is a successful season), then what exactly is your gripe? That they aren’t running the team the way you want it run?! Obviously we would prefer not having one postseason appearance in the move of 3 last place seasons, but that wasn’t the question…
  3. That’s fine for Yankee games, Mets games and Philly games. But when there are 16,000 in the stands for Thursday night against Pittsburgh, then what? Blame the Pirates fan as for not being willing enough to travel?
  4. Ok but then what? They can Breslow? That’ll fix it!!
  5. Sam has become Squealer from Animal Farm…
  6. Oh I never commented on the quality of the pipeline. Just that they’re going to use it more than sparingly. Spending seems like it’s not going to happen, regardless of post-season proximity…
  7. Judge played 106 games last year. He’s only topped 112 games twice since 2017. And he’s in his 30s now, when most players start to break down. Also, he’s going to play a more physically demanding position this year. He’ll have the occasional healthy season. Maybe in 5 years when Stanton is finally put to sleep and Aaron can DH. Until then, we’ll, enjoy Juan Soto this year…
  8. Haven’t you been paying attention? They’ll spend at any time, just not much. And the rest will come up though their pipeline…
  9. All the tome. (And I can’t go back and fix this one either.)
  10. “Damnit!! I’m ONE YEAR away from free agency!!!”
  11. I don’t think it’sa career breaker. I just think the Red Sox (and several other teams) don’t want to see their best young talent reach free agency at age 27…
  12. We’ll have lots of quality trade bait?
  13. Is he one of those that thinks Catch-22 is a really long Choose Your Own Adventure book about World War II?
  14. I think he’s a borderline case. He’s certainly not the most egregious omission even as outfielders go. But he also stacks up against a few inductees as well..
  15. Hard to say. His MLB track record is pretty weak and he’s basically just a radar gun darling with 5 years of control. Miami offered him for Justin Turner last July, but Bloom got all indecisive. BTV gives him a respectable trade value of 19.8, which is far below Mayer and Anthony, but roughly equal to Teel. I wouldn’t pull that trigger, but I’d move Duran for him. I have my doubts Miami wants Duran, however, as they reportedly in the hunt for a shortstop. Ha-Seong Kim matches up nicely and San Diego desperately needs outfielders and left-handed hitters. But I can’t see them trading Kim right now as they actually open the season playing the Dodgers in Seoul…
  16. Lopez went for a 2b with a batting title. Miami might not even have been looking for prospects and reportedly want MLB-level controllable hitters. Castillo went for a pretty steep package. The big miss was Zac Gallen, who went for a shortstop universally ranked in the 59-69 range. Of course, the Sox had no prospects ranked higher at that time as their best was Michael Chavis, who was in the 79-85 range on any system than ranked him at all…
  17. They also wanted to ban Waldo, but they couldn’t find him…
  18. The comp feature at B-R just looks at offensive totals. Again, they’re not saying the players are interchangeable. It even says so in the explanation. https://www.baseball-reference.com/about/similarity.shtml
  19. And in 10 years, they’ll both be dating women in the same age range…
  20. It’s more like what’s wrong with Renfroe that no one likes him? My theory is he spends all his free time throwing rocks at senior citizens and posting videos of it on Tubi…
  21. Berger was a really good player. I have no issues with that comp. Through his age 30 season, Betts has a career OPS of .900 with an OPS+ of 138. Through his age 30 season, Berger had an .896 OPS with an OPS+ of 146. Berger only played 11 years, but he’s not necessarily a bad comp here just because he isn’t the Hall of Famer you want to compare Betts to. In fact, there is an argument for putting Berger in Cooperstown…
  22. Let’s not confuse “most similar” with “equal to”…
  23. FINALLY someone with the guts to take on Paddington!!
  24. A clear parallel career path. We always knew Casas wouldn’t play his tenth game in MLB until age 29 and then be out of the league by 30…
