  1. Bradley and Gallo are two of the best defensive outfielders in MLB. Platers shouldn’t be evaluated solely by batting average, RBIs and errors.I had no problem getting either one. Of course, I also haven’t initiated a single post about what a horrible mistake the FO made by not acquiring either one. And I certainly only lump either one in a list of mistakes that includes Betts…
  2. Also, hindsight. If your definition of a big loss is losing out on Michael Wacha, who has obviously been so dominant in his recent years that all the highly competitive teams in dire need of his clearly elite services couldn’t outbid the Royals. This might qualify as list padding. I’m surprised Mitch Moreland wasn’t mentioned…
  3. It wasn’t box scores; it was HIGHLIGHTS…
  4. If they sign Soler and deal Duran for a SP, it might not be so bad…
  5. But on the bright side, maybe it distracts us from the woeful corner INF defense…
  6. That’s why I greatly prefer Duvall over Soler…
  7. It’s not one of the big worries. It’s a topic that get garnered a few posts discussed among a few people who simply like talking baseball. No need to call it out like you have to discredit anyone not hitting the teams top priorities in their discussion. Not sure if you’re aware of this or not - but what we r talk about doesn’t really matter. We could spend 3 days discussing whether or not to retire bat boy uniform numbers and it wouldn’t matter. The Sox don’t monitor this forum. In fact, when Talking Heads talk about all the internet unrest among Sox fans, they’re not talking about this forum. However if you feel the need to control the dialogue, then post a list of pre-approved topics and the times during which we are permitted to discuss them…
  8. I think that is likely. If the Sox have Duran and O’Neill lined up for two starting outfield spots, why also have two rookie outfielders? Especially if both have options…
  9. A Soler signing will not subdue the unrest in the same way aspirin will not subdue the Ebola virus…
  10. I figure 3 bench sports go to those two and McGuire. The fourth spot could go to Dalbec, Gonzalez, Valdez, or someone not yet in the organization...
  11. No, I was thinking more about his jokes about playing poker with Tarot cards...
  12. Warming up for the new Age of Empires league?
  13. I only miss his witty one-liners...
  14. No, but you can just pick your spots, unlike if he gets hurt. Unless Casas is going to miss multiple games and go on the IL, there is no need to call anyone up. They can't just call up Dalbec for one game unless they have a double header than day or they demote someone. They can pick spots and rest him against the occasion LHP if they like. Or before another off day. Whatever...
  15. He's the guy who keep trying to recruit the moose and squirrel...
  16. I'm going over on both. Even JD Martinez, when he signed with Boston, had less league-wide interest and took longer to sign and still got a deal in between those two. If either pitcher takes a deal in that range, it will have an opt out after years one or two. Or both...
  17. But not having a good farm does guarantee failure at the big league level eventually...
  18. Some talking heads still think the Sox are in it for not only Montgomery, but also Soler as well… https://www.yahoo.com/sports/predictions-mlbs-top-remaining-2024-111429456.html
  19. And with a fairly strong FA class next year. The Dodgers were able to go crazy in free agency this year because they didn’t go after deGrom, Verlander, and Rodon last year…
  20. If Jordan Montgomery is looking for an AAV greater than $25mill, maybe passing isn’t the wrong move…
  21. Why not? Don’t like good defensive outfielders? Or are you on board with the “he has big biceps so that has to mean steroids” crowd? Can we also assume you thought Mookie’s twitch reflexes were the result of cocaine abuse?
  22. St. Louis did use him in CF a couple years ago. And a little last year. DRS didn’t like him out there, but UZR did. OAA was neutral. But the total sample was only 393 innings over 2 seasons…
  23. No MiL invites. Gotta save money on postage…
  24. The Sox don’t need a RHH 1b. They really only need a backup for Casas’ scheduled days off (which can be controlled) and in case he has to leave mid-game for whatever reason…
  25. It’s not always about learning. Sometimes it’s about years of control. If Rafaela plays CF, should the plan be O’Neill in RF?
