  1. Disagree. And Tauchman proved that. I also question Counsell for holding off on Neris with Duran and Devers due up…
  2. Oh irony. This from the man (?) who is all about telling people their opinions and preferences are wrong…
  3. Actually I think you need to learn the rules. Per post 82 above, Martin had faced his 3 batters. Which means not wanting him to face the red hot Tauchman (OPS of 1.338 in the past week before last night) was a fairly legitimate concern that I posted about even before Tauchman homered…
  4. Well, you’re wrong about 3 batter minimum. It’s a bad rule unless you want faster games with less strategy. But that was never about Martin. My initial complaint was about Cora, but my second review made me realize Cora did play it right; it just didn’t work out…
  5. I hated how it turned out, but Martin was facing the 9-1-2 hitters. Once the first two got on, he was forced to pitch to Tauchman because of the awful 3 batter minimum rule. If Martin did get his hitters out, Jansen would have faced the 3-4-5 hitters in the ninth. So, not really on Cora here…
  6. MLB managers kill themselves with stupid adherence to the closer strategy.
  7. I don’t get this. 2-3-4 hitters up and you don’t go to Jansen?
  8. There was one person who said this staff would be better than the early perception. However that was while Giolito still felt like a factor…
  9. At a minimum, he will be better than Enmanuel Valdez, since Valdez cannot field, hit or run the bases…
  10. Right now the title of “Best 2nd Baseman on the Red Sox Roster” is an honor akin to owning the fastest Kia Sedona on your street…
  11. Valdez has a replaceable bat. I think the Sox would be better with Hamilton at 2b over him…
  12. He might not even last long enough for the Sox to make a claim, since he’s pre-arb…
  13. Yes it includes 2 players on the IL. Both are due back shortly. You’re going to discount the players on short term IL and also the starting SS who is likely to hold that spot all year? Right now there is no need to DFA anyone since the roster stands at 39. I don’t think any of Dalbec, Hamilton and Valdez bring much. I suppose Hamilton is the only one with any value, since he is an elite pinch runner. That’s not much of a skill, although it has value in extra inning games. But these 3 do not bring anything else that isn’t easily replaceable…
  14. White Sox DFAd former Yankee top prospect Deivi Garcia. Since the Sox have an open spot on the 40, he’s certainly worth the gamble. Especially since he’s still only 25. Unfortunately he’s really not the starting pitcher the Sox really need. But he has potential in the bullpen to fill in if the keep bumping relievers into the rotation. And right now, the Sox can get him without DFAing anyone…
  15. The Sox currently have 9 infielders on the 40 man roster. That total includes Rafaela but not Casas and Story…
  16. Uwasawa was already on the 40 man roster. The Sox currently have one open slot on the 40 man…
  17. My list just contains infielders for now. I wouldn’t DFA any more pitchers unless the new addition was a pitcher. Also I’m hoping the Sox use Vlad Gutierrez solely out of the bullpen. He’s a weak starting pitcher, but he might be a good reliever…
  18. RH bat killer? Good thing the Sox don’t have many those. Seen Wesneski pitch multiple times. Devastating slider that breaks about 2 feet. Hopefully O’Neill lays off of it, because it rarely stays in the strike zone…
  19. I’ve been doing that since March. But with a fair share of recommended replacements…
  20. Two of them on ground balls that barely traveled 60 feet and a third hit was off a backup infielder. Not much there to indicate he’s actually hitting the ball any better. And yet in spite of all that, he still might not get demoted. Because Hamilton and Reyes are still on the team, too…
  21. Someone needs to set those words to music. I want to upload them on mp3…
  22. Sox should have saved some of those 17 runs for Sunday Just getting it out of the way early…
