  1. I doubt the Reds have any interest in marketing Greene. But if they do, the Sox have a pitching philosophy about avoiding 4 seam fastballs. That’s Greene’s best pitch…
  2. At the front end, it was obvious that was what they did. But as you go further down the rankings, I’m not so sure how much separates two players ranked widely apart. Or how the Sox ranked them…
  3. Breslow did take the best player available. In fact, numerous pundits called their pick the steal of the first round…
  4. But it’s not like those salaries are in a Gaussian distribution. $325mill is a bit isolated…
  5. So sometimes it does get you much. And when it doesn’t, hopefully it’s over in a year..
  6. “Legit prospects” doesn’t necessarily mean a BA Top 100 prospect. Could the Sox land Kikuchi or Eflin or Anderson for, say, Yorke? Or Zanatello?
  7. Reynaldo Lopez, Erik Fedde, Mike Lorenzen…
  8. I’ve been shilling for Canha from Detroit. Pros and cons to both, I suppose…
  9. Unless they shrink-flated the seats…
  10. Kluber was a 3 fWAR pitcher the year before. That has to count for something…
  11. Also, none of it matters to anyone else…
  12. But his signing of Strahm shows he can make a shrewd, cost effective signing if he needs to…
  13. This seems like one of those Star Hoarder ideas. The Sox could get a RHH platoon bat to upgrade the offense and not go around collecting All Stars all willy nilly just because some other team does…
  14. I think a median would better demonstrate mid level instead of a mean. Granted, a median is a tall order to get…
  15. I just question whether Kluber, Richard, etc. constitute dumpster diving. Bernardino? Littell? Schreiber? Those guys and a few more are what I consider “dumpster diving.”
  16. I promoted dealing him because he was redundant in CF with Rafaela. Interestingly enough, I was always told he wasn’t good enough to bring back good pitching…
  17. Not any more. He let Zack Eflin walk and signed Matt Strahm for much less. He’s playing a different game in Philly…
  18. I struggle to think of that as a dumpster dive, especially for one year. Matt Strahm got 2 years $15mill in Philly and is an All Star this year. Is he a dumpster dive?
  19. And Casas has a career OPS+ of 127. Is this really a significant upgrade?
  20. Even Dombrowski brought in guys like Hector Velasquez and Sean O’Sullivan. Did Bloom really dumpster dive for starters? He signed a lot of guys like Kluber, Richards, Perez, etc. but these weren’t cheap and not off the scrap heap. I might have a different interpretation on what constitutes a dumpster dive?
  21. Are pitching prospects better trade capital? They tend to be more volatile, which might be why we got two of them for Alex Verdugo…
  22. I like my simple plan. One from Eflin, Eovaldi, Kikuchi or Tyler Anderson One RHH bat that can be worked into the lineup. Mark Canha is an excellent fit One dirt cheap start solely for depth. Chris Flexen fills this need. One second baseman (if necessary)
  23. So… no earth-shattering trades? Garret Crochet is on the block. Unless your offer is offer is headlined by Nick Yorke or David Sandlin…
  24. Guerrero is a pipe dream. The Sox have been trying to extend Casas…
  25. Crochet will be moved before then. 2.3 years of Crochet is worth more in a trade than just 2 years…
