  1. Obviously not a fan of “Like” buttons…
  2. Maybe once he is swinging pain-free, he’ll actually hit better…
  3. Trade for the starter. Use free agency for relievers…
  4. That’s not exactly the highest praise. He’ll be in the St. Louis rotation next year before the end of May…
  5. They might. Rumor has it the Cards think he’s taking too long to climb through their system. Note for Old Red: this is sarcasm. Mathews was drafted last year and this year pitched in A,A+, AA, and AAA…
  6. Going out on a limb in that you missed it was not a serious proposal. One would think the opening sentence “Then it must be exploited” would clue you in like it did everyone else. Apparently not. I mean, I just ended it with “Cardinals get Yoshida” with no reason! That’s a hint!
  7. Is there a Like button? How about a “I Would Spoon With This Comment” button?
  8. That doesn’t make 2020-2023 Chris Sale look like Gehrig.
  9. I bet if the Sox tried to acquire deGrom, Texas would chip in some cash…
  10. You also left out the biggest Dodger pitching gamble - Ohtani. He’s clearly a great hitter, but they didn’t commit a $70mill AAV to him so he could DH…
  11. So why is it people get the Rangers were gambling on talent with deGrom, and the Dodgers were gambling on talent with Glashow, but then think the Braves “knew something” about Sale?
  12. Sale won the NL pitching Triple Crown Skubal won the AL pitching Triple Crown Ohtani missed the NL Triple Crown by .004 in BA.
  13. I bet Texas would sell. Should Boston buy?
  14. Does he? He strikes me as the type of player most teams already have…
  15. But Boston clearly is, or at least isn’t eliminating the option, as they have already talked to Tyler O’Neill
  16. I like the accidental yet accurate replacement of “4” with “$”…
  17. My early take. The team to talk to about. a SP isn’t Seattle; it’s Miami. Thoughts that the Sox will only spend on pitching are incorrect. Hopefully if they go the free agent route, they limit themselves to RP. And Juan Soto. A talent like Soto shouldn’t be dismissed so quickly just because he’s too pricey…
  18. Too close to IBS, so many might feel it’s related…
  19. Agreed. But if you were Mike Hazen, you’d probably be told to move as much of that $25mill as possible…
  20. It’s hard to envision any team wanting to add any of these 3 over their own talent before the R5D…
  21. Valdez’ .409 OPS in limited action after the All Star break probably didn’t do much to make another team want to add him to their 40 man roster before the Rule 5 draft. He’s much more easily DFAd…
  22. But time machine bounce backs are usually not. That’s why I don’t want the Sox to pursue Jake deGrom or Lance McCullers this off-season…
  23. That and $5.75 will get him a triple mocha half cafe espresso at his local Starbucks, assuming he has a valid coupon or uses their app* * At participating Starbucks only
  24. It’s not difficult to envision the Sox not protecting Garcia. But he probably is the third best candidate to protect after Dobbins and Fulmer.
