And Blaze went back to the guy who originally drafted him. Just like Michael Chavis before…

If you were running the Twins, you wouldn’t ask for Anthony? Don’t forget they reportedly originally asked for Painter to be in the deal for Duran…

What is Breslow’s fascination with oft-injured Dodger pitchers at the deadline?
  4. notin
I would imagine Breslow felt similar. But I also have to think the Twins - who got two BA Top 100 prospects for their closer - were not going to deal 2+ years of Joe Ryan for Wilyer Abreu. I would be surprised if they didn’t ask for Anthony…

What if that “one outfielder” was Anthony? It wouldn’t surprise me; that type of thing has killed many deals before…

Chapman as a 37yo rental was not getting a package anywhere near what Duran got. Duran is over a decade younger and still has two seasons left after this one. The Sox should have been able to rival Phillies package with Bryan Clarke and Password…

He’s not a lefty, but if Hicks can face 3 batters and get one out, I call it a successful outing…

They are a good team, which why this was such a disappointing deadline…

Who knows when he will be back, or when he will be gone again…

I find it interesting they really need a 1b, but instead of acquiring one, they dealt away their top two in the minors…

A lot of those guys were really young in 2004.

If May was capable of making a difference, why did LA trade him?
  13. notin
It is interesting that the Sox very likely exit the deadline with less depth at first base than they had before…

    Not for Duran, no…

    Ethan Salas is still there…

The Rangers did add LHRP Danny Coulombe, which is not nothing. Has pluses and minuses compared to Matz. Yankees also added Colorado RHRP Jake Bird Astros also acquired OF Jesus Sánchez from Miami…

Maybe. Laureano has been hot recently, but this will be his 6th in less than 3 seasons, and he’s not bouncing around like that because he’s always awesome…

You make it sound like a love triangle…

That does make his acquisition less likely…

This all started with the unspent Devers savings. If it goes to (the right) extensions, I’m more than fine with that…

I hope they make other plans. This guy keeps injuring himself with routine baseball activities. That’s ok for someone like me, whom did not make his living playing baseball. But for Casas, it’s a concern…

Not all for $30mill, which was the subject at hand…

That should plug the final leak in that Padres bullpen. Opposing teams now need to do all their scoring in the first 5 innings…

True. The multi-position guys can see their UZR artificially inflated if they’re any good defensively. I call this Zobristing
