  1. Lots of projected WAR? It’s a simple model, but it’s not perfect. I use it as a source, not as an authority…
  2. BTV gives Raleigh a surplus value of $155mill, good for fifth overall in MLB and MiLB. The only players with more trade value based on their model are Vlad Guerrero Jr, Shohei Ohtani, Julio Rodriguez, and Bobby Witt Jr….
  3. Do you really think the manager has no input of who gets sent down?
  4. Grisson for Hoskins? Milwaukee has MIF issues. Turang is an outstanding 2b, but he came up as a SS and was moved due to the existence of the since-departed Willie Adames. They could slide Grissom into 2b and move Ortiz back to 3b. Some combination of Chad Durban, Tyler Black and Jake Bauers could then take 1b…
  5. So what you’re saying is Oracle Park is even less friendly than Oracle software…
  6. Why? Think Bello will choose this outing to actually find the strike zone?
  7. Realtor: and since this is Fenway and we like to ship out anything that works, we traded your streaming service for a laser disk player…
  8. Princeton. Unless you mean which Chris Young. In which case, it’s the former 6’10” LHP. And by former, I mean he’s no longer a LHP. He’s still 6’10” to the best of my knowledge…
  9. No to Beltran. Do you really think a Beltran/Cora/Bregman reunion is good for baseball? Why not just bring back Marwin Gonzalez too? No to Blackmon. Blackmon is useless outside of Colorado. This has been proven scientifically. You can argue with me, but you can’t argue with science. (I think this applies to Barmes as well, but maybe Barnes can pick up the slack.) No to Brewer. He’s still active and would therefore probably sign himself. And signing Colten Brewer has never worked out for anyone. Im flexible on the rest…
  10. Well, it’s not like every 4 years is working out. Time to change things up. Or as the saying goes, if you keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll keep getting what you’ve getting…
  11. Reverse, actually. After retiring, Manny had some cholesterol issues…
  12. Or Doug Glanville or Mark DeRosa. When folks think Ivy League, UPenn is never on their minds. But those Colonials are Ivy Leaguers!
  13. How about opening to anyone with the initials CB? We could get Chris Bosio or Carlos Baerga!
  14. Are we only looking at Yale alums now? Who’s in-line after Lavarnway? Former Astro GM James Click? Or are we pigeon-holed into Ron Darling?
  15. Stop ruining my Happy Space! Hes just working on pitch recognition!!!
  16. Who said anything about all season? Im just predicting some Revenge Mashing over a single weekend series. The only thing working against Devers is the games are in SF, and that right field wall is very far, very tall, and very often backed up by incoming breezes that make home runs difficult there…
  17. I’m hoping Grissom is getting some sort of developmental program, like when they want to work on his pitch recognition so he has instructions like “no swinging at fastballs until you have two strikes.” That would make his overall numbers suffer, but he might get better at hitting breaking stuff. Of course I have no idea if the Sox still do stuff like that with hitters, let alone do it in AAA. But I hope that’s the case, because if Campbell does move to 1b, Grissom is the Sox best option to keep Hamilton on the bench…
  18. As long as they never contended. I couldn’t take another Bloom deadline…
  19. Think Campbell plays 2b or 1b in Worcester? The Sox know they cannot rely on ToRoGo at 1b all season, and dont have an in house candidate except the recently-promoted Blaze Jordan. If they don’t want to keep throwing rookies at the problems and hoping they stick, maybe this demotion was as much about Campbell getting some reps at a new position as it is about his limited offense. Kind of makes some sense when you realize he didn’t get demoted after his .360 OPS for the month of May. But he raised it about 300 points in June and got optioned…
  20. Especially when you consider apparently many teams felt Devers was the problem and the Sox were far from unreasonable. https://sports.yahoo.com/article/mlb-rumors-teams-were-appalled-095609428.html I do still get why fans are frustrated and consider this Betts 2.0. It’s not like any of us were going to hang out with Devers and our participation was limited solely to watching him crush hits for Boston. And just like with Betts, that’s gone and not replaced…
  21. Ive speculated on Story/Murphy trades before and feel they might be a good match. (BTV most definitely does not as it hates Trevor Story.) Assuming I’m right and they are a fair match, then the rest of that deal becomes Wong and an injured Winckowski for 1.5 years of one of the most dangerous right-handed bats in MLB. Absolutely no way Atlanta settles for that. Not even at gunpoint…
  22. Unless there is another move (Eaton down, Grissom up?), the only 2bs on the roster are Hamilton, Rafaela Toro, and Romy. Since Toro and Romy are handling 3b/1b in a platoon, that really just leaves Hamilton and Rafaela. So, Hamilton. With no platoon unless Coraputs Wong in there. (Wong does have MiLB experience at 2b from way back in his Dodger days.)
