  1. Not until he fixes that sweet spot problem…
  2. No it doesn’t. It puts the onus on Anthony. Let’s not start pretending Password was an equally viable starting option just yet. And Refsnyder? If Anthony struggled like Campbell did, do you want Refsnyder and his very limited skill set out there every day? They reportedly shipped Abreu, which is looking like a questionable move on their part as well as on every team that passed on him. And Abreu is probably worth more now. Not sure why depth is considered a problem by so many fans. I’d rather they held off on moving an OF. Aren’t they better off with 4 starting OFs than they would be with two?
  3. Why is it irrelevant? They had an offer to move his whole contract, which had even more money at that time. Right?
  4. To be fair, Garrett Richards was signed in 2021, two years before Sale was traded. Sale’s salary was not removed to accommodate him as they were teammates…
  5. Can’t. Not enough season left for that many 6 game winning streaks
  6. But he’s also 4-1 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.07 WHIP against Boston in 5 starts over his very short career…
  7. But he towers over 4’3” Andrew Vaughn!
  8. But he towers over 4’3” Andrew Vaughn!
  9. Well we just won 6 games in a row. Time for Breslow’s Traditional Celebratory Diva Trade…
  10. Closers could be part of an interesting trade deadline. The Yankees, Phillies, Tigers and Cubs all need closers. Candidates include Clase (reportedly), Bednar, Jansen, Finnegan, and Bautista, and possibly Estevez and Iglesias Tjese same four teams might also be clamoring for 3b help. Assuming Philly is still frustrated with Bohm…
  11. I don’t mind not fixing the outfield logjam. I would have been more upset if they cleared a path for Anthony and he struggled. They can still clear the logjam up; they would find it harder to undo a trade if things didn’t work out…
  12. Rusney, Luis or Kate del Castillo?
  13. I believe it was from the Rangers. The rumor was they were willing to take the entirety of the contract, but not give back anything of value in return. I heard no names on the player(s) coming back. Presumably some Stan Papi types…
  14. The only way demoting Mayer to keep Hamilton makes sense is if the (short term?) plan is Romy full time at 2b while hes hot. Of course backfilling his role at 1b would need to happen first…
  15. St. Louis is 1.5 games out of the third wild card. Unless the next 3 weeks are rough for them, they might not be selling…
  16. Demoting Mayer and keeping Hamilton in MLB is just pointless. Especially since Hamilton has an option…
  17. The full throttle thing was stupid and the subsequent explanation was insulting and blatantly false. But clearly the Sale trade was intended to be more than just a salary dump. They had at least one offer that saved more money and they did try to get an actual player to fulfill a position of need. Right?
  18. But would a Ryan-less Twins team want Duran? They have outfielders with higher bWAR in LF (Bader) and CF (Buxton) already. Granted, Bader is only 0.1 better, but that still makes Duran an odd choice for an improvement. Catcher, 1b and RF look like bigger needs. SS, too, but they have plenty of cash tied up there. And no, they don’t want Casas. Not for Ryan, anyway…
  19. Brock proposed Duran as the centerpiece of a Ryan trade. But if the Twins are trading Ryan, does he really make sense for them? A third team (Philadelphia?) does change everything. I still doubt Mullins is the final piece here…
  20. Unlikely maybe. But if 84 win AZ can sneak into the World Series with Zac Gallen, Merril Kelly, Brandon Pfaadt and no one else, anything is possible. It’s all about getting hot at the right time…
  21. Nate Eaton got demoted. But doesn’t someone need to be DFAd or moved to the 60 day IL to get Yoshida on the 40 man roster in the first place?
  22. Lowe (98) and Steer (92) both have OPS+ below league average. Naylor (128) is much better in this regard. If you value StatCast, none of these three are particularly impressive. Rhys Hoskins would be better than all of them. 4’4” Andrew Vaughn even more so, but he is not likely to be available anymore…
