    Disagree. I'm sure i can find a few World Series champions with weak bottoms of the order. The Sox are a pitching-first team right now...

    But are they prioritizing his confidence or just seeing how he pitches? This isn't a team that is strategizing how to win. They want their young guys throwing well. If Rodon retires Martinez, wouldn't that bolster his confidence? And if he fails, big deal. The guy is crushing everyone anyway. Teams more concerned with winning will pitch around Martinez. But right now, the Sox are not playing those teams. ..

    And the idea of trading Bradley to the Reds for Gennett is silly. Not only do the Reds have center field defense pretty well taken care of, but then the Sox have no one to replace Martinez at DH if he goes to left field. So the Sox weaken the defense and move one of Holt or Nunez to bench so they can get more at bats for Swihart or Travis? This doesn't seem like a good plan to me...

    Moustakas is already in to his plate appearances incentive bonuses and has a $1mill buyout as opposed to Freese, whose base salary is $4.25mill with a $500k buyout. Moustakas is more expensive, but it's a lot closer than I realized. The only advantage to Freese is the comparable dirt cheap asking price..

    Well, the tank mode White Sox are probably more into seeing how their younger and injured pitchers are coming along thsn worrying about whether or not JD Martinez beats them. What do they learn about Rodan's recovery if he walks Martinez?

    And Devers looks pretty weak this year. While demoting him might not be the best thing for Devers, playing him everyday might not be the best thing for the Sox. Bradley contributes defensively, making his struggles at the plate a little more tolerable. If the goal is to win a World Series this year, is Devers with his offensive struggles and defensive limitations really the best option at third for the rest of thr season?

    Moustakas would put the Sox over the payroll limits. Someone cheaper like Freese or Forsythe fits their budget better. An interesting thought that might work is Bradley for Moustakas. But 2+ years of Bradley for a rental 3b might be a deal Dombrowski doesn't like to make...

    The buzz on Bagwell didn't start until almost 20 years after that trade. I'm sure the Sox had a few steroid users between that deal and the start of the buzz...

    When is it time to think about denoting Devers? The Bradley trade thread was started a month ago. Devers had been as bad or worse since that time. At some point, should the Sox think about maybe trading for an infielder like Jed Lowrie or Logan Forsythe or David Freeze and demoting Devers?

    LaRissa did say that, but it was a one year opportunity. Did Renters also "wilt" under the intense spotlight of Detroit? Hr looked injured to me. I remember noticing that he never once diving for a groundball....

    Platoon Moose and Devers? Two lefties? Platoons are small market baseball. When teams can't afford one good player, they go out and find two dirt cheap bad players to take the single role. It's like when Jerry and George starting dating the one girl on Seinfeld. "The two of us, working together at full capacity, can do the job of one normal man!"

    Based on what? He handled the spotlight of St. Louis (which is VERY bright for MLB) and the spotlight of the World Series...

    But what is a contract Sale can't refuse? Does it take 7 years $210mill to get him to sign and forego free agency? 8 years $300 mill? And are you willing to go to that level knowing full well he could break down in the first year of the deal and make it even more difficult for the Sox to compete. Does it help the future of the Red Sox to have $50-60mill tied up in Sal and Prce for the next 5 years if they are not what they used to be? Sale has been massively underpaid for most of his career and is well aware of that. And if he isn't, his agent certainly is. An offer he can't refuse might be too much for far too long...

    Betts would be a great idea if Betts and hi agent were amenable. They might be after this past off-season. With Sale, the years are going to be a BIG deal. How many years do you realistically want him for? Because he isn't going to pitch like this forever...

    And where was Damon going to play anyway? He could barely handle CF, and he couldn't even make the throw from RF to shallow RF. So was he going to start over Manny in LF or Otiz at DH? Those appear to be the options..

    For Jose Abreu? Bradley, Beeks and Swihart? And somehow you think the White Sox would do that? If you were GM of the White Sox, would you make that deal? If so, can you please become GM of the White Sox?

    Porcello has made two post-season starts 12 months apart. Price has made one post-season start for Boston. And before you write off knuckleballers, Wakefield was very good for the Sox in 2003 and 2004...
