  1. More than likely we just get s rental 2B (who is clearly not Brian Dozier) due to the price tag. At this point, the lack of rumors makes me think Holt and/or Nunez is the plan for the rest of the year. Sure it can be improved upon, but the situation isn’t dire IMO...
  2. Per MLBTR, the Sox have shown a mild interest in Joey Gallo. While I get the appeal of the dirt cheap young slugger with a pure Fenway swing, it does make me wonder that if they could get him, where would he play this year?
  3. So this looks like it may have been one of the very, very rare instances where the inside information that the manager had turned out to be part of the decision...
  4. If you can get a logo together, we can print and sell T-shirts...
  5. Were any of them the 20 strikeout performances by Roger Clemens, Kerry Wood or Randy Johnson?
  6. ... passed away this week at 49.
  7. The Cardinals DFA’d Greg Holland and Tyler Lyons. Holland is having an interesting season with a career worst 7.92 K/9, a career worst 7.92 BB/9, and a career worst 7.92 ERA. Lyons is basically doing nothing different than he has ever done except this year he is victimized by an insane .464 BABIP. Walks are up for him, but so are K’s. Of the two, the lefty Lyons appears more likely to rebound quickly.,,
  8. I say take it further. We need to start pre-firing the manager before he even starts the season. It’s the best way to prevent him from making mistakes...
  9. I see attendance is up...
  10. I don’t blame Cherington for Hanrahan or Bailey getting hurt much in the same way I don’t blame Dombrowski for Thornburg and Carson Smith getting hurt. I’m not so sure how much luck was involved with the success stories. GMs don’t hand out multimillion dollar contracts and hope they pan out...
  11. I have supporters? Awesome!! I shall call them notinheads...
  12. I think Hembree is a lot better than he was last year...
  13. Depleted or toast does not differ. I don't think there is a single impact player in that farm system above A-ball, and even the higher touted A-ball prospects will have attrition. It's pretty toasted...
  14. And you don’t think it might be a tad early to say that?
  15. Relax. Pomeranz does have the better history as a starter. But if he continues to flounder, he won't stay in the rotation. Brian Johnson has already thrown 60IP this year and has only topped 100 IP once in his life. Why not use this opportunity to avoid taxing his arm, too?
  16. I don't want to get into that, either. But DD definitely gutted the farm and it was a predictable outcome. Some trades I like. Some I did not. My biggest gripe against BC was he never dealt any prospects. But to say our farm isn't depleted right now does involve a certain amount of ostrich-like behavior...
  17. I wouldn't mind seeing this team add a 2B or a RP, but if DD is done making deals, it's not a bad thing...
  18. What would we trade for him? If the Nationals unload one of the best and most popular players in the game, they aren’t going to do it for Michael Chavis...
  19. Unless the Sox can replace Sale, this team has a very limited shelf life itself...
  20. Regardless of what you think, the farm system is toast. And it was obvious this would happen once Dombrowski was hired. The only question that remains is whether or not it was worth it...
  21. I don't think this type of thing is as quick as many fans think. It takes a lot of time and effort for two teams to make a trade. That one trade is a reaction to a deal made by another team is probably more often just a matter of happenstance and/or media say-so...
  22. You left out part of my reasoning. If the last game or second last game is important, the Yankees can pitch Happ (0.84ERA, 0.94WHIP) against Boston and not risk juggling their rotation to get Severino or Sabathia against us on short rest. Eovaldi (6.14ERA, 1.23 WHIP) doesn't give us the same advantage against the Yankees...
  23. Actually I would have preferred they got deGrom. Getting deGrom would have made a more significant dent in their farm/future, and Happ has pitched quite well against Boston this year, which could be a huge factor in that last series of the year...
  24. Ok less than a big deal. The Jays got Brandon Drury and Billy McKinney, who is now joining his fourth organization in 5 years...
  25. Well, we just put Johnson in the pen. And someone else (Pomeranz?) might join if/when Wright or Rodriguez return...
