  1. MLB ready prospects? Like the ones they got for Stanton?
  2. Ummm... no. I clicked to reply and make the joke about how there is no activity this off-season...
  3. Whats in that deal for Miami? More years of the lesser player?
  4. Smaller ones are easier to unload however. If the Sox made every player available for trade and stated they will pay nothing, do you think they get more calls on Hanley, Porcello or Price?
  5. Maybe, but it's also possible Boras doesn't lower the price until bidders start dropping out. So the Sox might be in the unenviable position of holding the price high...
  6. I knew this thread was fraudulent when I saw the word "signs"...
  7. I think the Marlins would just assume have Prado than pay all of those deals. Realmuto to will get them a haul and the Sox don't need a catcher. But I wonder what the price might be for Dan Straily and Derek Dietrich...
  8. I'm not even certain Dombrowski is still alive. There haven't been that many signs of life this off-season. And bringing Mike Olt on board doesn't count
  9. So I take it you actually know all the words to the Canadian national anthem and not just up to "all thy sons' command" like the rest of us who got bored at that part of hockey games?
  10. Absolutely his dad is a big distraction. Just like how so many teams are shying away from Josh Donaldson. Do you really think his dad is an issue? Josh Hamilton got multiple chances and his issue wad HIM, not his dad. Ever hear of Willie Wilson, Willie Aikens, Steve Howe, Darryl Strawberry, Tim Raines? Like it or not, talent is all matters And if Groome can pitch, that's all that matters as well....
  11. Very true. I have issues with any nation that puts other country's leaders on their money...
  12. What about Norwegians? Can we still make sweeping generalizations about them?
  13. And Apple watches..
  14. Duquette wouldn't trade Bradley for Machado if you held his whole family at gunpoint. But other than that, I do think it is a good plan...
  15. It is going to have to change soon. Pitchers and catchers report in six weeks. ..
  16. If the Sox made that deal, Betts likely goes to CF and Puig, with his outstanding arm goes to RF...
  17. Machado creates issues with other teams. Puig creates issues with his own manager...
  18. True, but the NL East and AL Central have less depth. And Houston should still be an easy favorite in the AL West.
  19. He is good. But I think economics was a big factor. The most expensive player the Sox brought on that off-season was Cody Ross. Bard was an awful starter in A ball. I think it was more of a "best chance" of the guys they had than anything about Bard. ..
  20. 3 years of Bradley for one year of Puig isn't that close for me...
  21. While the current Sox might be favored to make the post-season, is it realistic? At least right now? Last week on MLB Radio, Steve Phillips did a bit called "5 in 5 out". The premise was, based on recent history, 5 teams from the last post-season would not make the next one. (He did acknowledge that with a lot of free agents available, this was subject to change. But he also has air time to fill.) Anyway his 5 out were, in order of likelihood, Minnesota, Colorado, Arizona, Boston and Los Angeles. The NL West teams all sort of make each other less likely and I don't think he expected to hit on all three. But he had Boston out mostly based on division. The Yankees were his seventh most likely team to miss, behind the Cubs at 6.
  22. I think that first sentence can be applied to every pitcher in MLB. And the second one to most relievers...
  23. I hold Ben accountable for his good and bad moves. But that off-season I remember him not being allowed to spend to the point where Marco Scutaro had be dealt in a salary dump. No way we could bring on a starting pitcher. ..
  24. My main issue with Bard was that he always had control issues. Too many on BDC wanted to rush Papelbon out the door and install this guy as closer for some reason...
  25. Would you have passed on Encarnacion for 3 years last season?
