  1. Which doesn’t establish any value. Bumgarner is a name with a question mark at this point, despite his relatively young age...
  2. Is Mata your new prospect-crush? And have you officially broken up with Marco Hernandez?
  3. How much value does one year of Madison Bumgarner and his 240 IP in the last two seasons combined have?
  4. So the Yankees are paying him $12mill to backup a minimum wage player released by another team? LeMahieu is an excellent defensive 2b, probably the best on the Yankeees. At best, he’s a good lead off hitter. At worst a Gold Glove defender batting ninth and hitting respectably. I also don’t think LeMahieu agreed to any contract where he was the utility infielder. He could have gotten a starting gig someplace...
  5. Chavis is pure trade bait. He has no real position. He’s not much for third and the Sox have Devers and Salbec anyway. He could play first, but the Sox still have Dalbec/Devers for corner IF. LF? Possible but the Sox are allegedly looking to extend Benintendi. RF? He could never handle it at Fenway. That leaves DH. Which is not the most difficult position to fill and probably one best not left to a rookie. With most rookie players, offense at the MLB level can be slow developing and unknown, but if they can play their position you can give them time. But do you want a slow developing unknown bat at DH? Trade Chavis for a controllable quality reliever...
  6. But it also makes him less desirable in a trade...
  7. By backloading it so whoever trades for him pays the bulk of the deal? Not exactly prime marketing...
  8. Well, they signed LaMahieu for one. And at a bargain price. They’ll probably give Tulowitzki a shot at making the team, but he went from starting shortstop to utility infielder today...
  9. The guy spent most of 6 years in Baltimore. Why is Chicago so awful?
  10. U For a closer!!!
  11. At this point I’m shocked that it’s January 10 and the most significant addition to the Red Sox is some guy named Colten Brewer...
  12. Same reason Toronto did?
  13. Besides no Machado, it could mean one of three things 1. The Yankees gave up on Tulowitzki already. 2. The Yankees don’t anticipate Gregorius coming back as soon as originally thought (which is the least likely). 3. The Yankees are not so wild about Bird/Voit at first. LeMahieu is like 6’5” and athletic enough that the new position shouldn’t be an issue... I think it’s a combo of 1 and 3...
  14. No. Agents have short memories when it comes to this kind of thing...
  15. It means they soured on Tulowitzki faster than expected...
  16. Actually most of them are still active and could be traded yet. I don’t expect Pujols or Cabrera to move, with the others? It’s still possible. In fact, Alex Rodriguez is the only player to sign a $200mill+ contract and finish it with the same team...
  17. For what it’s worth, my calendar projects it to be January 10....
  18. As much of a commitment as these massive contracts are, it might be worth noting that only 12 contracts in MLB history have exceeded $200mill, and four of those players (Stanton, ARod, Cano, Prince Fielder) were actually traded during these mega deals. So historically any team signing Machado or Harper has a 1 in 3 chance of pawning that deal off on someone else at some point...
  19. $30 million....
  20. I do think he’s better than Marrero at the plate, but his is going to spend his career batting 8th or 9th. Hopefully he is good enough, because as of now, he might be shortstopping in Boston in 15 months...
  21. And they’re having a crazy off-season. I think they’ve been involved in almost every trade so far...
  22. I'm actually shocked he hasn't. How is Michael Chavis still in this organization?
  23. And THAT is why they are not getting Harper...
  24. Or the Reds, who just extended theirs? Or the Braves, who have Flowers and McCann? Dodgers, Astros, and Padres make sense. But it won’t be the Padres, since the Marlins will insist on Tatis...
  25. Hey I’ve been defending his bullpen approach for 2 weeks now and decided he is having a Very Notin Off-Season, which actually may not be a good thing...
