  1. So then.... what’s keeping Dombrowski from signing a couple really good relievers? Seriously. It’s January 13 and the biggest addition to the roster is still Colten Brewer...
  2. And the question becomes - does resetting make sense? If the Sox cut payroll under $206mill and it impacts the product on the field to the point where Henry makes less revenue, then he may very well forego any reset...
  3. Oh I’m thinking at least 20, possibly 25 teams will have at least one prospect with an FV above 45. This is not news....
  4. Again, it’s Fangraphs. The FV is the important column...
  5. Ironic. That’s the prediction he claimed wasn’t even bold, and that all his predictions didn’t have to be bold despite the title of the article stating they are...
  6. You misrepresent. Using Future Value numbers, Fangraphs had Hernandez tied for first and Dalbec tied for fourth...
  7. They’re both pretty equal in my eyes. I think they could be combined into one prospect called Dalvis. Or Chabec. Your call...
  8. Loria was one of the worst owners ever. Why did he keep buying teams when it was evident to everyone he cared nothing about baseball? Was he just buying teams to pocket revenue sharing money? MLB needs to make sure he never owns another team again...
  9. Did you notice the original proposal for Smith included the Sox top and number three prospects per Baseball America? Sure most teams 1 and 3 represent better players, but apparently BA felt it was a better package than you did...
  10. 1 demerit. But I believe there is an appeal process...
  11. He injured his left shoulder in a dirt bike accident. While it was off field - and off road as well, it was still the shoulder attached to his throwing arm. Last year he injured his left hand on a line drive hit back through the box. While not likely to recur, both of these two injuries might impact how he throws in the future...6
  12. At this point, his chances are only slightly better than mine...
  13. He’s a worthwhile gamble because he can be released in spring training and cost the Yankees nothing more than airfare to Florida and a few nights hotel stay. And if all their infielders get thru Spring Training without injury, I will be VERY surprised if he is still on that team on opening day...
  14. I Soxprospects.com ranks him number one, but Baseball America has Dalbec as the Sox top prospect. Fangraphs has Casas as the top prospect, but is essentially tied with Chavis and Hernandez with a 45 for future value. That’s a decent FV score overall, but it does mean the system is weak if no one has an FV score above 45. Chavis can be traded and probably will be. And when it comes to bolstering the bullpen, either he or Dalbec should be...
  15. Which doesn’t establish any value. Bumgarner is a name with a question mark at this point, despite his relatively young age...
  16. Is Mata your new prospect-crush? And have you officially broken up with Marco Hernandez?
  17. How much value does one year of Madison Bumgarner and his 240 IP in the last two seasons combined have?
  18. So the Yankees are paying him $12mill to backup a minimum wage player released by another team? LeMahieu is an excellent defensive 2b, probably the best on the Yankeees. At best, he’s a good lead off hitter. At worst a Gold Glove defender batting ninth and hitting respectably. I also don’t think LeMahieu agreed to any contract where he was the utility infielder. He could have gotten a starting gig someplace...
  19. Chavis is pure trade bait. He has no real position. He’s not much for third and the Sox have Devers and Salbec anyway. He could play first, but the Sox still have Dalbec/Devers for corner IF. LF? Possible but the Sox are allegedly looking to extend Benintendi. RF? He could never handle it at Fenway. That leaves DH. Which is not the most difficult position to fill and probably one best not left to a rookie. With most rookie players, offense at the MLB level can be slow developing and unknown, but if they can play their position you can give them time. But do you want a slow developing unknown bat at DH? Trade Chavis for a controllable quality reliever...
  20. But it also makes him less desirable in a trade...
  21. By backloading it so whoever trades for him pays the bulk of the deal? Not exactly prime marketing...
  22. Well, they signed LaMahieu for one. And at a bargain price. They’ll probably give Tulowitzki a shot at making the team, but he went from starting shortstop to utility infielder today...
  23. The guy spent most of 6 years in Baltimore. Why is Chicago so awful?
  24. U For a closer!!!
  25. At this point I’m shocked that it’s January 10 and the most significant addition to the Red Sox is some guy named Colten Brewer...
