  1. Congratulations. Forget about sleeping. And no “Mookie”?
  2. Last week the Sox claimed 1b/of Joey Curletta from Seattle and acquired the contract of former Phillie and White Sox 3b/of Cody Asche. Asche is in Portland. No idea where Curletta is assigned yet. But as he is 25 and been playing in AAA, I would imagine he’ll be in Pawtucket...
  3. Swihart can play four positions!! At once!!
  4. No team will trade for Pedroia unless it’s a very lopsided deal. And Pedroia is a 10-5 player so he can reject any trade...
  5. He seems to like trashing Barnes and Leon over stuff that doesn’t happen...
  6. Y And if you take away Bradley’s best season (2016), his OPS with Boston drops to .673...
  7. It is an option, and maybe in a few weeks Chavis might make the Sox consider that option. Right now, I think they’ve forgotten about it...
  8. Pedroia servers the purpose of being heavily paid to play 2b part time. But unlike Holt and Nunez, he has a couple years left. Losing Nunez at this point wouldn’t be a big deal...
  9. Having more quality arms would be great. But if you don’t have them, you have to work with what you have. I’ve been plugging the idea of using your best arm for high leverage over straight up closer for several years now, and I think it’s really cool to see several teams adopt this philosophy. My one caveat is I do think the sixth might be a tad early to bring in the high leverage pitcher, but only because those dreaded opposing best hitters still are guaranteed another plate appearance. But then we all saw Francona bring in Miller in the ALDS a couple years ago that early and it worked out just fine...
  10. Well, I said Devers would be the only player the Sox could replace internally that had any trade value, and it helped that Cora was infatuated with Dalbec’s defense. Is there another player who’s worth anything in a trade the Sox could replace from within more easily?
  11. Lost time...
  12. If it’s a boy, I suggest the name “Mookie.” Also, I suggest the name Mookie if it’s a girl...
  13. Most switch hitters are better left-handed, so against Porcello it doesn’t matter much
  14. Nah. Play Chavis at 2b. This whole launch angle strategy has me re-thinking the value of infield defense...
  15. Right. The Sox should have dealt ERod and brought up Groome, ignoring his recent TJ surgery, and see how felt throwing right-handed for once...
  16. The only reason to keep Nunez, who has been struggling s a hitter and was never a good fielder, is due to his versatility. But Chavis can field 2b and 3b with his level of mediocrity and that frees up Holt to cover some corner OF. Lin can be demoted. And the Sox could demote a pitcher to get back to a 4 man bench...
  17. Of course if the last 3 outs are the most difficult due to pressure of the situation, isn’t some of that offset by the hitters also feeling pressure? Best pitcher vs best hitters always makes the most sense to me and I’ve been saying so for several years. It does seem like a lot of MLB managers are starting to agree with that philosophy...
  18. Walden is 30 years old and in his sixth organization with a spotty minor league history at best. While he may be doing well now, you’d be smarter to bet against him in the long run...
  19. Bradley is a valued starter not just because of his defense but also because the Sox don’t name any better options anywhere. Even if you move Betts to CF and Martinez to RF, who DHs? Pearce? Nunez? Leon? Are any of them hitting better than Bradley? (Hint: no)
  20. I never insisted he be traded but instead pointed out depth made him the Sox most tradable commodity. Big difference...
  21. But even in that case, your argument turns into 3-4-5 hitters with 2 on base or 1-2-3 hitters with X men on base and Y men out...
  22. Might still be a bit early to compare him to his Hall of Fame dad. Not every legacy is Ken Griffey Jr. Just ask Dale Berra...
  23. I don’t know if Stuart could start anymore, but I do think he could still outhit some people on the Sox bench...
  24. My issue with Devers was never offense. That said, this is a Launch Angle League now. And with this emphasis on hitting fly balls and nothing but fly balls has lead not only to strikeout records for the league, but also a reduced need for infield defense...
  25. The Sox have 5 players with an OPS lower than Bradley. It might be difficult to determine who goes when Chavis stats, but NOT for a lack of candidates...
