  1. You’re right. That is a really bad pun...
  2. You’re sure it’s not Shedward?
  3. Torreyes has been around a long time with a lot of teams. Not sure why anyone would get excited about him. But this year, maybe we get the Full Throttle Hype on Tyler Wade...
  4. He can be added to the Fun with Baseball Names list for building names along with Phil Roof, Matt Stairs, and Bobby Doerr...
  5. He is less. 3 tools max...
  6. No socialism!!! Take away their health care!!
  7. Every source everywhere seems to say the Sox are not concerned with the luxury tax. So the decision to not exceed the highest threshold appears to rest solely with Dombrowski...
  8. But that was with Sheffield, so the system has taken a big hit...
  9. When did he write that?
  10. As a pitcher, he might have a shot as a LOOGY. But it probably won’t happen until after the Sox finally release him at some point...
  11. True. But given the amount of press coverage they typically get, I would imagine it’s difficult for the Yankees to maintain mystery team status for long...
  12. History typically says the “mystery team” is made up by the agent as a negotiating ploy...
  13. Shawn Kelley is a good pitcher. Not my top choice from the $5mill bin, but there are plenty of worse options available...
  14. My tenth best option on page 16 of this thread...
  15. Not really. There’s still plenty of free agents left. Cervelli’s propensity for concussions is another matter...
  16. Don’t confuse objectivity with contradictory. I don’t expect the Pirates to trade Vazquez for our Vazquez for numerous reasons, all of which have nothing to do with fWAR and Steamer600. The entire proposal was geared at exposing that as the sole criteria for why Pitt would be disinterested, hence the sarcastic “Perfect trade” closing. But to drum up bizarre reasons like it’s one’s sworn duty was where it got comical. I do think Pitt would love C Vazquez and like to move Cervelli for 2 big reasons Steamer ignored. 1. At $10.5mill, Cervelli is the highest paid position player on the Pirates. 2. His catching ability is potentially limited due to his frequent concussions. I think they’d love Christian Vazquez. But they are unlikely to deal Felipe for him...
  17. Reportedly they lost the team over some forced makeup games on a scheduled off day. It had nothing to do with Tito with the exception of his ability to reign the team back in...
  18. Why? In the words of AJ Pierzynski on that whole thing. “I’ve been on 3 different teams and seen that in 3 different clubhouses.” Why do some fans think the Red Sox have to be held up to the ideals of their high school coach as opposed to normal MLB behavior?
  19. Not big spending teams. Just the Yankees. I believe the new CBA will be very specific in this regard. Apparently any adjustment to the luxury tax threshold won’t be applied to Betts or Bogaerts if they get new deals in Boston. That benefit is solely reserved for Judge...
  20. Has anyone topped the rumored $25mi yet? Let’s see him get offer at least $26mill before we assume he gets $30...
  21. So Bogaerts will top Machado’s offers? It is intersting that all Sox players will command well beyond market dollars to resign, but the new CBA will benefit the Yankees for retaining Torres, Severino and Andujar. Which side do you think the current CBA favors?
  22. The Yankee farm might not be as great as you think. MLB.com had only one prospect (Flovial) ranked ahead of Chavis at 69. Loasigia (sp?) was technically ranked ahead at 66, but really he was so close it was essentially equal. Bleacher Report does give the Yankees 2 top 100 and 3 Tier 2 prospects, but acknowledges at best, the Yankee farm is average. And BR seems to be the only one ranking the Yankee farm as high as 15. The Sox farm is still awful. It’s just that us Sox fans recognize it...
  23. Ball hasn’t done much as a starter and one season as a reliever, but it might be early to say he can’t hit, too. He only has 9 career minor league at bats...
  24. Apparently nothing to this rumor. If you ask me, wrong side of the diamond anyway...
  25. Fair. Harmony doesn’t strike me as one who will tell you how doomed the Sox are while they’re winning the World Series.
