  1. Duran crushed in A ball because of a .471 BABIP. In AA, he has a .350 BABIP. Being fast certainly helps BABIP, but even .350 might not be sustainable. He may not hit, but he will be cheap. If there is a weakness in his game to worry about, it’s his propensity to strikeout, where BABIP 19% in A ball and 24% in AA. What will it be in MLB? If the Sox do replace Bradley, they might look at cheaper free agents first..,
  2. Sale is having an awful year, but this team is horrendous. DFA Porcello, Moreland, Pearce, Cashner, Smith, Weber, and Curletta.
  3. And they chose Detroit and Seattle? It’s not like the Sox bullpen is so devoid of opportunities...
  4. And yet I bet he homers of Sale today...
  5. I’m not so sure Duran and his .650 OPS is the answer in CF just yet...
  6. Disagree. In 99 careen games, he’s been worth about 1 fWAR. This does make him a borderline starter. Now he did play a significant chunk of those games after injuring his shoulder on a dive, which does appear to have an effect on his hitting. He won’t be a star and is likely a step down from Bradley, but financed might dictate a move like this...
  7. I agree Henry with Henry's decision to not add payroll. He gave DD plenty of budget to make a competitive team. And I like that he added Cashner. It hasn't worked out, but at least he did do something. But really, DD has been pretty absent all year. Dozens of pitcher have hit the waiver wire, and DD been absent on all, despite most clearing waivers (which means he certainly had an opportunity). Right now in the AL, two teams have closers that were acquired mid-season as free agents because they both cleared waivers. (Bass in Seattle and Rosenthal in Detroit.) These are minimum wage players to their respective teams. How was DD not involved? But hey, he did add Cody Asche and Chris Owings for reasons no one understands...
  8. As for Bradley, he is a legitimate non-tender candidate. He probably north of $10mill in arbitration, which is a bit pricey for a bottom of the order glove/part time bat. Now the Sox might still re-sign him at a reduced price..
  9. Those are Yankee Wins. Each one is worth 3 regular wins
  10. With Henry, I have no idea. With Dombrowski, I have no other explanation. If he didn’t have a long stretch of guiding Detroit into the postseason only to come up short largely due to not addressing pitching depth and ignoring the bullpen, I’d be more inclined to agree. He did steal Price from Tampa one year, but he always seems to list after star players. But he was always slow to adders blatantly weak bullpen. (Sound familiar?) He has the Sox in a tenable position right now. They might struggle to get int the postseason, but they’re on the outside looking in. They have no money to spend. They have no farm to rely on. No pitching to get them there. And Captain Ahab at the helm going full speed ahead despite obvious weaknesses...
  11. He’s always on the IL...
  12. I agree DD makes minimal changes and avoids the overhaul. My impression of him is he learns from his success stories but not from his mistakes...
  13. Trading Betts is among those things that is easier said than done. Using baseballtradevalues, the Sox could supposedly trade Betts to Atlanta for Foltyinewicz, Toussaint and Camargo. This is one of those “hey it fills holes on paper and actually works for both sides” deals, but then, it might suck for Boston. Not like those three are killing it this year. Another deal that works out the same way is Price to the Cubs for Heyward, which alleviates the financial logjam in the rotation and replaces Betts’ defense in RF. And the Cubs can reunite Price with Madden. But while the Cubs certainly want to move Heyward and do need pitching, it doesn’t mean they would make this trade...
  14. And is also over 20 starts for the second time in the last 5 years. He is a legitimate injury concern...
  15. Not really. He has shown himself to be a very capable defender
  16. The attitude of “we don’t need to improve the offense and we can’t improve the pitching” is why DD needs to be fired...
  17. Trade Betts. Non-tender JBJ. Bring no one back. (Talking about potential free agents, of course.)
  18. Rather have a retool than a rebuild. Might take a gutsy move like dealing Betts - or maybe a gutsier one like dealing Devers - but I want the Sox to be competitive again in 2020....
  19. Oh I’m fairly certain I’ve come close to getting booted off here:) And I’ve been booted off every Yankee forum I’ve joined for setting realistic baseball talk as opposed to the vernacular of Bronx Bomber Conspiracy Theories and Pinstriped Fellatio...
  20. He’s fine but he does see the world through pin-striped glasses And no Red Sox forum is complete without a Yankee fan or two...
  21. Get on it DD. What do you have to lose? https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/08/braves-release-luiz-gohara.html
  22. It’s ok to say the deals were justified by the success. But trying to convince yourself all the Sox gave up we’re overhyped non-contributors, that’s just denial. Manny Margot is having a good year and recently started hot hitting. He isn’t 25 yet. Yoan Moncada was a questionable omission from the All Star game at 24. Logan Allen was a top 100 prospect this year who has since been promoted to the majors. Kopech, injures and all, is still largely a top 25 prospect on most lists, if not all. We did give up a lot. We got a lot. That’s how it’s supposed to work. No need for the denial...
  23. And I get he didn’t have the same resources. Limited budget. No farm. But he’s been a GM for a long time. Certainly this has come up before in his career at some point. He must have some experience to draw from...
  24. That’s a tough plan to rely on. But there were dozens of opportunities before then that were also bypassed. Anthony Bass opted out in Cincy. Trevor Rosenthal was released in Washington. Both went to non-contenders and are actually doing well. Where was Dombrowski? I’m sure I could find other names as well beyond these two examples from the top of my head...
