  1. So it’s the pressure of Boston and not the fact that Cashner is In his tenth year of mediocre pitching?
  2. To be fair to Epstein, he did establish himself as a pretty good drafter.,.
  3. It’s a sad state for the Sox farm that Josh Ockimey - a man 29 teams passed over as a free gift as recently as December - is being discussed as a potential strong side platoon option at 1b...
  4. Devers is a monster. But compared to the players in the Sox farm system, many of which are his age or close to it, he is a man among boys ....
  5. Nah. A lot of aging players and off year players. This upcoming off-season’s best potential one year free agent - Scooter Gennett...
  6. That response made it worth it:)
  7. It would help the Sox immensely if they could find some sort of JD Davis/Mike Tauchman type who can play but basically costs minimum wage. But Dombrowski seems opposed to cheap players...
  8. Also Yoan Moncada is nowhere near as good as Marco Hernandez or Brock Holt....
  9. The A’s traded Rickey Henderson to Toronto and then signed him back as well...
  10. Aroldis Chapman
  11. I do like that site..,
  12. That would be the Orioles, who were putting out pitchers back than at the same rate Keebler puts out cookies. We got Mike Boddicker in the deal...
  13. It’s not the lowest value on that site...
  14. ... which matches up nicely with Jason Hayward if the Sox deal Betts. Sox get someone who can handle RF at Fenway. Cubs reunite Price and Madden...
  15. The Sox aren’t going to reset, whether it’s the smart move or not. I’d be surprised if Bradley was tendered a contract. As for trading a big deal, I’d be surprised if Betts was dealt. More likely he shifts to center. Again, while trading Mookie might be the smart move, I’d be surprised if it happened. I’d like to move Price, but I think I’d be disappointed with anything they got back...
  16. It depends on the deal. Would you trade Betts for a package headlined by Conforto? Or two elite pitching prospects like Ian Anderson and Kyle Wright from Atlanta? Or to LA for Julio Urias and Joc Peterson and another?
  17. He’s given little reason to date. But if he can finish strong he might change some minds and either be successful here or as trade bait...
  18. But that doesn’t mean Hernandez will be better. Lots of flamethrowers flame out, either due to control problems or injury. Johnson isn’t anything spectacular and I have little to no faith in him, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get a shot. What do the Sox have to lose at this point?
  19. Or ... call it one bad year. It happens. Keep Barnes but get better relievers to accompany him in the bullpen...
  20. I’m all for this in the right deal. It’s a question of finding the right deal. The problem with trading Betts is dealing a player of his caliber rarely returns anything close to equal. The only deal I can think of that comes close was the Guardians trading Bartolo Colon to Montreal for a package that included Grady Sizemore and Brandon Phillips. And I’m not sure I’d call Colon, even back then, an equal of Betts...
  21. Velasquez really doesn’t count. He was signed as a 28yo free agent out of the Mexican League. If anything, he’s a success story. Despite his unpopularity, Clay Buchholz was a successful starter drafted since Lester. And while the jury is still out, it’s a bit early to say 22yo Michael Kopech is a bust. And the Sox have been really good at trading away pitchers who become good relievers for other teams, like Ty Buttrey and Shaun Anderson.
  22. But had Sanchez come to Boston, you would have called him a “ham and egger”...
  23. I seriously doubt Henry said NO MAS to waiver claims for players making the MLB minimum. If he did do that, your “lame duck” theory got 2020 is either incorrect or another wasted season. Certainly the directive can’t be “Fix this team or you’re fired!! And no spending money, not even on minimum wage players!” Just fire Dombrowski if this is the case...
  24. He’s certainly our best hope because of the GM who doesn’t gamble on waiver claims and asks for controllable starting pitching for Blake Swihart...
