But he also was in the dugout and clubhouse all year and would be aware of any sign stealing.
It does like it would really annoy you if the Sox were innocent of all this.
But Ithe anonymous source who may or maybe not have ever been in the dugout and clubhouse is more reliable...
First of all, these players were all FIRED. You can’t demand to be reinstated from being fired.
Second, none of them were fired by Manfred. Hinch was suspended but Manfred, but once he got fired, that didn’t matter...
Your example was Beltrán being fired by the Mets. Being “fired by the Mets” is NOT a league punishment. Manfred had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. The Mets clearly did not like the negative PR associated with Beltran’s name, but they made their own choice to fire him
And really, Cora has not yet been punished by the league either. He’s been fired by the Red Sox but that isn’t the same thing...
Whether or not the Mets fire a player is completely independent of whether or not the league can punish him for transgressions in a previous uniform...
How do you know Ron Roenicke isn’t bilingual?
The guy has 4 years experience under his belt. Safe bet he talked to a Dominican player at some point in that tenure.
And really, with maybe 4 weeks until pitchers and catchers report, whoever manages the Sox this year is likely to be considered an interim manager with the real search starting next year...
That there have been absolutely no rumors might be an indication that the new hiring will be internal (Roenicke?) and they expect to be cleared of any wrongdoing in the current investigation...
It’s a tough call.
Would having a better roster make for a more attractive opportunity for a managerial candidate? Or will anyone left be desperate? Or are they all so egomaniacal that each one figures he and he alone can win it all with this current or any roster regardless of what history has shown?
(I think it’s the last one myself, but it’s not like I’m basing that on anything.)
I like the Bloom hire and get the limited activity. I just wonder why nearly all of his acquisitions to date have been high strikeout left-handed relief pitchers...
