  1. They tried 9 games way back when. 7 is good.
  2. Yeah, the conventional wisdom I referred to was not about bringing JBJ back. It as about offering him arbitration knowing full well there was a glut of glove-first CF's hitting free agency. A non-tender and re-signing him for less made more sense, especially in a cost-cutting year...
  3. The cut fastball, which grades similar to that of Mariano Rivera by some scouts...
  4. I might hav e been the first. But it's a small bandwagon, so far with just myself and mvp on it. Unless you're on that one with us, too. Thr Buchholz one was nice. That was in 2015. But it all started with the Nava prediction in 2014...
  5. I know. I nail a prediction and you complain about the thread title
  6. RF. Verdugo to CF. Bradley to KC for Ian Kennedy. This prediction is not likely to go as smoothly as my Cesar Puello signing prediction...
  7. It would definitely help, although arguably if dealing both gets you a cheaper SP, then it accomplishes the same mission another way. The Sox absolutely do need some minimum wage contributors. But Chavis has no real position and Dalbec is blocked by Devers at his best position, and moving him to 1B just holds the fort for Casas, although Casas is a minimum of 2 years away even if he just flt out destroys high A and AA pitching this season...
  8. I honestly do not get all these people who think "if we trade Mookie he's never coming back" but somehow thought if we did not trade him, he was here forever. Mookie wanted the market. It was a choice between trade him now for what you can get or watch him walk after 2020 and receive only a single draft pick that likely never cracks AAA...
  9. Some things never change...
  10. I still want Puig. Puello is bench fodder and is only on a minor league deal anyway. He's basically the new and improved Gorkys. While upgrading over Gorkys was nice, there are bigger fish to fry...
  11. Not sure what took so long here https://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/19655-Next-up-for-Bloom
  12. Yeah. I called this one two months ago... A rare moment where my predictions align with reality!!!
  13. Martin Perez might be good for 170 IP or so, but he is basically an ERA+ of 95-100 guy. Unless Bloom saw something in him that could be exploited...
  14. I think the Sox could deal both Chavis and Dalbec, but I don't think it's very likely...
  15. I never wanted Price either, although for different reasons. I did not like what would be obvious ramifications on spending and keeping the young core. The only thing I ever liked about his contract was the opt out, which becamse a moot point when he got injured during the second year...
  16. I doubt there is much available capable of his ERA+. Even for 120 IP. The Sox are either going to have to move one of their top few prospects (Casas, Downs, Dalbec) or settle for a lesser pitcher and hope for the best...
  17. Definitely my thoughts on the subject...
  18. Yeah I see the MLBPA embracing that. Also, maybe eliminate free agency and have all players sterilized...
  19. They’re keeping Bradley, solely because they misread that there would be a market for him and offered him arbitration against conventional wisdom....
  20. Exactly. The Sox need to replace the IP from Price...
  21. Limited sample size defensive metrics were off the chart. Also potentially not representative...
  22. Nah. They’re in the pack...
  23. I see the serious suitors as Red Sox, Mets and Nationals. But there’s usually a surprise team, so I’m going to say that Dark Horse is the Toronto Blue Jays, who normally aren’t big spenders, but their low cost “Sons of Infield” does give them some extra cash to spend...
  24. Kennedy You also left out Tyler Chatwood (owed $13mill/$12.67mill AAV) I could see Bradley for Chatwood, but going for Kennedy seems like the better move. The Rockies bullpen is loaded with contracts they would like to dump, but not for Bradley. Davis, McGee and Shaw are all likely available for very little...
