  1. Did Dan Duquette run the Red Sox like he ran the Expos?
  2. But this class has some players hellbent on reaching free agency, namely Mookie Betts and Trevor Bauer...
  3. He ran Tampa. No idea if he stays the same in Boston. In fact, it’s not likely...
  4. Connor Wong is a positionless hitter who is definitely not a catcher. The Dodgers have tried him at 2b and 3b and the early returns were not exciting. He may settle in as an infielder but is probably going to play OF at some point. Downs will be dealt for a pitcher. No one named Jeter should play for Boston...
  5. Like Brusdar Graterol?
  6. And he doesn’t pitch...
  7. The Sox offered $300million. I think that they were $100 mill apart says more about Betts than Boston. And don’t fall for “but I wanted to stay in Boston” crap. The Red Sox offered him $300 million dollars. That’s life changing money. And really, maybe he’s worth more but if he REALLY wanted the Red Sox, I think he could have made it work for $300 million. The Dodgers aren’t resigning Betts. Cody Bellinger is right behind him. The Red Sox might not resign him, but they have a great chance now...
  8. ... which is why I added Puig..
  9. Only $3mill more towards the tax. But also freed up a place to accommodate the only free agent left capable of making an impact...
  10. You have got to be f***ing kidding. Mookie wants to be a free agent and become the highest paid athlete EVER in any sport! He wants to make more money than the entire XFL!! The Sox have already made outrageous offers to him. The Red Sox did not become one of the highest spending teams in history by shortchanging players. And the Dodgers are going to pay him? Mookie asked for 10 years. Name one Dodger player EVER to get a deal like that. In fact, name the Dodger with the longest contract (hint: Yasiel Sierra) Mookie is hitting the market. Book it. It’s what he has wanted all along and he has never kept that a secret. And the high soaring Red Sox check-writers just reset the tax penalties right on time..
  11. Trade Bradley for Ian Kennedy and sign Yasiel Puig for RF?
  12. I could see dealing Chavis and keeping Downs. But you have to have faith in the Lin/Peraza combo at second. I’m lukewarm there...
  13. And I thought my Jackie Bradley/Ian Kennedy swap would draw the most questions...
  14. He was gone after 2020 if the Sox didn’t trade him. Now they actually have a chance to bring him back..
  15. I would have kept Graterol, and I like both Downs and Wong. I think the Sox don’t keep Downs. No way the Red Sox can have a player named “Jeter” on their team. Also they need a SP...
  16. Yeah. There are definite pros to signing Puig. But the cons to signing Puig have their own cons...
  17. Banking on the Sox doing the smart thing and making a deal (player or financial) to keep him or simply sending him back. I don’t get why any team would bury a Rule 5 player in their bench, killing a year of development while also burning a year of service time...
  18. Well, as I pointed out, it could actually push the Sox further from the tax limit. Let’s not pretend the Dodgers are taking Price’s whole contract here...
  19. Graterol was ranked #53 by MLB.com on the midseason rankings. The closest Dodger prospects are May (32), Ruiz (33), or Gray (74)...
  20. I’m gong with the “surprise” move(s). C: Vazquez 1b: Moreland 2b: Chavis 3b: Devers SS: Bogaerts LF: Benintendi CF: Verdugo RF: Puig DH: Martinez BN: Plawecki, Peraza, Lin, Puello SP: Sale, Rodriguez, Eovaldi, Gonsolin, Perez BP: Kennedy, Workman, Barnes, Hernandez, Hembree, Taylor, Walden, Brice Or (sigh) Ryan Weber in place of 4th OF Cesar Puello...
  21. I’m guessing Gonsolin. So it won’t be him...
  22. Then f*** them. They are not getting Mookie Betts, a first round comp pick, saving $33mill and holding their best prospects. That’s why they’re stuck paying their fourth outfielder the third highest salary on the team and doomed to finish no higher than third in a weak NL West, and Preller is going to get fired. But hey, when you spend all your cash on Wil Myers and Eric Hosmer to the point where you can’t afford Mookie Betts, maybe you should get fired...
  23. Bottom line is, per your post yesterday, other teams are interested in Betts and Price now. Whether or not I guess the teams is immaterial. Bloom just needs to talk to any interested party...
  24. If they take on Betts and Price and send back Myers, they don’t take on $58mill. They add $36-ish mill...
  25. Twins are out. Graterol isn’t going anywhere...
