  1. Would you deal Bradley for LHRP Justin Wilson and his $5mill AAV?
  2. While I do doubt they view Marisnick as the full time answer, I think they have some issues with other needs and limited budget that might prohibit trading for Bradley without dumping some cash back. Now the Sox might be amenable to taking some cash back, as long as resetting is still within striking distance...
  3. Who is interested in Bradley so far? I think if the Sox do trade him, the return is not likely to dazzle. I’m thinking someone like Arizona’s Matt Andriese, whom Bloom has both acquired and desalt before....
  4. While I do think a Price-Myers swap makes sense, it doesn’t say San Diego is willing to take back contracts. It does say they would attach prospects (presumably not named Gore). I wonder if Eovaldi for Myers, LHP Adrian Morejon, and 1b/OF Josh Naylor works for them. Sox only knock $4mill of the AAV, but fill multiple holes in the process...
  5. The fascination on this board with resetting is because the team President said they were going to. I’m not sure why you keep thinking it originated here. I don’t think the plan is to lose and save money. That might happen, but we have all seen the Sox spend money and lose. However, it does look like part of the plan is to clean up at least some of the mess Dombrowski left behind...
  6. And then Thormburg should sign with Milwaukee. The best player left standing from that trade looks like Mauricio Dubon...
  7. THe problem is, any team interested in Bradley can take the cheaper flier on Pillar, save a prospect or two, and (likely) not have to pay $11mill for one year...
  8. While Cole is a good pitcher, he's not someone who should be breaking salary records. He's a prime case of good timing...
  9. I'm not so sure "several Josh Lindblom's" is the enticement you want it to be...
  10. If they keep Bradley, I won't be crushed. While it does seem like $11mill mght be a lot for w glove-first CF, it's very much in line with Kiermaier's salary. If they don't trade Eovaldi, I might be crushed...
  11. If Lindblom is too expensive, maybe they grab the surprisingly available Zack Brown in the Rule 5 draft. Of course, Milwaukee probably had a good reason for not protecting him and it might be a case of getting what you pay for...
  12. While also strangely being the leader of the “Just Say Yes to Julio Teheran” Club
  13. So now MLBTR is setting the over/under for Cole at 9yrs/$324mill. Go Yankees. Go get your top priority!!
  14. Since nothing has been done yet, we have no idea what any plans are. But if the Sox are on the fence about resetting, they do have until July 31 to decide. I figure them possibly exploring trades for Betts, Martinez, Bradley, Price and Eovaldi all off-season, but only making the deal if it meets Bloom’s wish list. If the deals make little to no sense, then maybe the Sox make a run at 2020 and reassess everything July..
  15. If things don’t workout maybe they have a true fire sale at the deadline...
  16. And those pitchers should be better and cheaper than Porcello, right? So trade for one with our glut of expendable farm pieces aka Dalbec? And then sign Clay Buchholz?
  17. I think the only point in the Soxfavor is Porcello's expressd desire to stay. But he probably isn't so keen on Boston so as take a one year deal here while passing over multiyear offers from other teams...
  18. Well, Cole throws an 89mph slider over 20% of the time. The only pitchers throwing a harder slider are Jake deGrom, Zack Wheeler, and Antony Desclafini. That timetable might get bumped up a year or two. But as you say, it will be worth it if he can replicate a career year 4 more times...
  19. Pitchers like Verlander, who actually looked like he was slowing own in 2014 and 2015, and Scherzer are very, very, very, very likely not the career models other will follow. And I am under-using the word "Very" here.. The overwhelming majority of pitchers decline throughout their 30s at such a high attrition rate, that even mentioning the alternate possibility is nothing more than wishful thinking. If the Yankees miss out on Cole, it will be the best thing to happen to this organization in a long time. And by the end of 2022, you will be agreeing with me on this. Want the Yankees to start their next dynasty? Pry Shane Bieber out of Cleveland...
  20. The problem with the Yankees leaking the amount - and I have my doubts they did - is if they did for the reason you say, then they absolutely have to get Cole. If, say, Dodgers swoop in and sign Cole for 7yrs/$252 mill, the Yankee fans that the organization thinks they’re appeasing will all say “What? The extra mile couldn’t swing another million per year?!?!” I would assume it was leaked by the Boras Camp. It let’s the Angels and Dodgers know what they have to beat...
  21. And like most conspiracy theories, it falls apart with the simple question of “Why?”
  22. Of course the main point that all of you are missing is -Bloom is alive!! And doing something other than signing Josh Osich!! Sure it’s just in the rumor phase now. But it’s a sign of life!
  23. He apparently did not inherit his dad’s trademarked rubber arm, which was my original reference..
  24. Reportedly the Yankees have offered Cole $245mill over 7 years ($35mill AAV). Boras will reject that, at least until both SoCal candidates make offers...
  25. Paxton is a really good pitcher but he’s had a slew of injuries himself over the years. I think it’s because he’s Canadian. A lot of non-Quantrill Canuck pitchers have had injury-plagued careers, very possible (re:my theory) due to the weather-induced shorter seasons they play in growing up. Rich Harden, Adam Loewen, Erik Bedard, Jeff Zimmerman. Even Ryan Dempster, back when he was a flamethrower for the Marlins. The list goes on...
